Re: May 5, 2009 - Captain's Chair

Yeah, Crosby had already told them she wanted out. It's a shame her death was so meaningless, but they certainly fixed that.

Re: May 5, 2009 - Captain's Chair

Well, Uhura started out with a gold go-go uniform, but switched to red after two episodes. I have to imagine that this change was made because at least in part because she looks far better in the red uniform than the gold. In the original series, red = death (unless you were wearing a hot go-go outf...

May 5, 2009 - Captain's Chair

I want an inflatable captain's chair, too. I realized yesterday that this is going to be the first (and only) new Star Trek released during my entire college career...and that it slides in by only one day - I graduate on the 8th! No wonder my Trekkieness was slipping. Thank god for the Stargates and...

Of course, awesome episode, which naturally must contain Q.

Re: May 4, 2009 - Make it so

Pike also called his first officer Number One - so that would be a valid TOS reference. My first-ever forum post, and it's about a bit of obscure Trek trivia. Wow -- I'm that guy. 'Course, depending on which novel you're relying on, that may or may not have been her name. Not relying on a nov...

Re: What is the appeal of a Jeep?

Most Jeeps now, aside from the Wrangler, are basically SUVs; in fact, most of them are superior to other domestic (and some foreign) SUVs. Heck, my friend's Liberty gets better city mileage than my Honda CR-V. Now as for getting a Wrangler and using it to drive around leisurely instead of offroading...

Re: Apr. 30th, 2009 - Beam me up Tchotchke

So far I have not like a single thing Abrams has done I hope this is different and please no shaky cam. 'Splain to me please, what you've seen that Abrams has done. 'Cause I'm sorry, Lost is FANTASTIC, and I never saw Cloverfield... but he really hasn't done all that much, so it seems like kind of ...

...You just summed up my thoughts exactly.

Fortunately, with low expectations, maybe I'll get the Indiana Jones effect with this movie.

Re: Apr. 30th, 2009 - Beam me up Tchotchke

Meh - I think it's one of the more boring Star Trek films. Especially when you compare it with Wrath of Khan and The Voyage Home. :) I can see that, though I guess I just like the character moments, especially the fact that they're willing to throw away everything to save their friend. And Uhura's ...

Bitten by TSFS? I liked that one. A lot. Aside from the whole self-destruct thing, of course.

Gotta love William Ware Theiss and the "Theiss Theory of Titillation".

Oh, and where does one get a movie uniform? They were awesome.

The only place I've seen it in South Carolina is Wal-Mart, and then only in the fridges at the checkout line.
