Re: Post Your Stupid Questions- Tech Version

What have you done recently and is there any pattern? Also, try swapping the positions of your RAM sticks and use Memtest86 instead of the windows default.

Re: Busybodies vs. Fun

I propose we put forth an advertising campaign to convince the environuts to sterilize themselves or commit suicide. Preferably that latter. There's already a precedent for sterilization. Yeah, but I don't see the Amish telling me I can't use technology they disapprove of. Though I assume here that ...

Re: Stop coddling the super rich

Capital gains is still a tax on savings. The only difference is where you've put your money. Please explain your position. I don't see where I said interest earned on a savings account wasn't subject to taxes, in fact I was saying a the capital gains tax and the tax on savings account interest were...

Re: Stop coddling the super rich

Capital gains is not equivalent of a savoys account. It's what you make overall after selling stock, some higher, some lower. Besides, interest earned on your savings account is subject to income tax as well. Capital gains is still a tax on savings. The only difference is where you've put your mone...

Re: Stop coddling the super rich

Other, Here's one good rebuttle to Buffett . Related, I wonder if he's including payroll taxes & state taxes in that 30% he's listing for other people or not. Buffets tax rate isn't 15%, it's 45%. That is the compounded rate between the tax on corporations and the capital gains tax. That's not true....

Re: Debt downgrade

Or how about them bases on over 100 countries. Giving money to countless despots, tyrants or normal countries. Germany is run by a tyrant? Thanks for the information, I had mistakenly believe you had a democracy. By the way, I count 25 countries from here . The majority are democracies. Perchance y...

Re: Stop coddling the super rich

But this is Warren Buffett speaking, so I waive all my rights to call bullshit. I don't and I own stock in Berkshire. If he wants his taxes raised, fine, he can pay more himself without forcing it on other people. In the mean time lets at least look at the tax rate correctly. Buffets tax rate isn't...

Re: Debt downgrade

Given that the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan were declared by congress, you're going to have to explain how they are unconstitutional. And you're going to need to explain the part about Yemen. Or do you mean Libya? I can think of one way to cut the DoD budget without affecting defense. Congress has wri...

Re: Debt downgrade

Can the EU as an organization even field troops in a war? Isn't that still up to the individual nation? Which begs the question of whether your previous numbers included the costs incurred by the UK and others in Iraq, Afghanistan, or other conflicts. Either way, it's apples and oranges. Which is w...

Re: Debt downgrade

The difference is between what you need for just maintaining a military that isn't involved in fighting and one that is. You use more munitions when fighting and you wear out your equipment a lot faster. Well obviously the cost of fighting a war is immensely greater than not fighting a war. But the...
