I'm just wondering... I haven't seen any new RPs, and I'd like to join one. I understand that I can't just jump into one, but I'm wondering when a new one will arise. I'm also wanting to know if there's a specific Character Specs thread of sorts. I didn't see one, but I would prefer not to break rules, even ones of which I was not aware.

Nope. Just keep your eyes open, the new games tend to pop up often enough. You just came at a bad time, alot of new games just started so most people are busy.

My main problem is that I'm only interested in the RP threads, so sticking around is otherwise boring.

It isnt an RPG you idiot. It is role playing, such as dungeons and dragons. And for the idiot here, that is what most RPGs are based on. The Baldur's Gate saga, neverwinter nights, even final fantasy and UO, they all have components of D&D and playing a role of someone who isnt you. That is a RP, now go back to your corner and die, or learn, before you come back here.

If you define the acronyms though they are all the same. But yea, and when trying to edit games like Diablo 2, it may say 4-10 damage on the weapon in game, but it's actual attack is 2d4 + 2.

Ok...I'l answer this guys questtion.

basicly you have to begin with an idea of what you want the stroy to be. anything from fantasy go kill the dragon to futureistic go blow up the deathstar. anything is possible.

Then you create a basic character system that allows the players to customize their charaacters. for the most part you can look at the other games to get a good idea about those.

Then you begin the story...from there you basicly have two options. 1 let them go wild and improvise untill they finish the story line or screw up the storyline. or 2. pinhole them into a series of uncontrolable events and hope they survive.

Why? If he cant figure it out from the perfectly coherent and intelligent answer I gave him, then he cannot possibly have the mental maturity of a 15 year old, or a 12 year old for that matter and thus, does not require an answer. You play a role which is not yourself, inside a story which is not your world. This is a role play, just like pretending your boyfriend (since Sagresar probably pounds more ass than Garr) is a french maid and you are his boss, and pounding his ass is role playing. Saur, calm down man! The noob was not asking an idiotic question. "RPG" is a commonly used term defining all types of role playing games from pen and paper, console games, sexual activites to what we do here. He just wanted to know how it works on forums since it seems he has no experience in it.
