It has Anna Paquin in it. She has a sexy Southern accent. She wears tight white T-shirts and skimpy little shorts.

Also, I think there might be vampires in it, but I couldn't swear to that.

Fuck yeah it did. It also had Ben Foster, who is awesome.

It's retarded. I tried to watch it and couldn't make it though a whole episode. From the episode I saw, some vampires got high, a guy disappeared or transformed or something, Anna Paquin can shoot stuff from her hands, and that was about it. I'm tired of the whole vampire craze that Twilight has created. I'm gonna go watch some good vampire entertainment, like the Hammer Dracula films with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, or Nosferatu, or Salem's Lot.

I haven't seen Twilight so I can't comment on the similarities. But True Blood does not have emo or teenagers in it, if that's the objection.
It's a contemporary vampire show dealing with modern-day issues. Yes, vampires are going to get high and fuck a lot. Wouldn't you? if that's not your bag then giove it a miss.

It's unlikely to expand the vampire genre in any meaningful way, but it's popcorn television. Also, because I think you missed it the first time:

The first season was pretty good. That's all I've seen though (we had to get rid of HBO and I just haven't gotten around to catching up on it).

My list is generally in order, though a lot of it is DVRd and I end up watching it in the next day or two.

Football
Big Bang Theory
NCIS
NCIS:LA
Lie to Me
Ghost Hunters/Ghost Hunters International (and I'll probably check out Ghost Hunters Academy)
Survivor (yes, make fun of me if you want)
CSI
The Mentalist
Jeopardy (we actually watch it every night while we eat unless we're watching football or one of us isn't home for dinner. But again DVRd so we don't miss a day)

I also catch The Good Wife online since the DVR is busy on Tuesdays.

We have The Forgotten on the DVR list. It's okay but I don't think ABC is going to keep it.
I've caught a few episodes of Three Rivers online. Again, it's okay but I'm not sure how long the network will hang on to it

Ooh, I knew I forgot one!
Penn & Teller: Bullshit!

I think filmmakers, authors and television writers need to get together in an International Vampire Conference, and set a guide as to what a vampire is, how they age and how they tend to live. I'm getting tired of vampires being reinvented every decade or so.

(I also think there needs to be a Zombie Summit, a Fictional Plague Symposium, and a Governing Body of What You Can Turn Into a Movie/TV Series. You can make things without abiding by them, but your work won't get a seal of authenticity saying "this movie was a good idea to begin with if nothing else." Imagine: "this program is rated TV MA-LV, and is approved by the GBWYCTIMT.")

"V" is coming out tonight on ABC i believe, and no i won't be watching it even if it does have a bunch of hot chicks in it. In case you are wondering where the story is going you can either read a critically acclaimed ( at least i think it was I've heard it a lot) short story about aliens and a cookbook ( i think its called How to Serve Man), a twilight zone episode, a simpson's episode, or finally you watch the original version of the series from 1983 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085106/

Hopefully I'll be able to catch some Sanctuary tonight and see if I like that series.

I stopped watching Penn and Teller: Bullshit! a couple seasons ago... is it still as good as it was?

Another show I've been trying to get into (with limited success) is Bored to Death on HBO. I think my problem with it is that the premise is really flimsy (stupid, to be honest) and that makes me not want to watch the show. It's about a failing writer who decides to hire himself out as an unlicensed private detective. Really. The only reason I've persisted with this show is that people keep on recommending it to me. This season is only 8 episodes, so I figure I can make time for it. Anyone else?

"V" is not a remake of To Serve Man. It has nothing to do with cookbooks. It doesn't sound like a great idea for a series, mainly because it wasn't a great miniseries to begin with. V would have never made it through my governing body of remakes, which I've decided should be known as the Unoriginal Ideas Approval Committee or the UIAC.

Now, remaking The Prisoner with really good actors, on AMC (which is so far 2/2 in making critically-acclaimed tv shows)? That would get approval. I'll be watching that.

Yes dammit! YES! They did this really excellent episode on violent video games recently, it's rather nice to see a mainstream show pointing out the obvious flaws in the idea that playing violent video games will make you violent.

Indeed! If only they would make an episode about Scientology, I could rest peacefully.

And right now I'm watching The Big Bang Theory. It's quite nice.
