Well, Quantum Leap, while having a character that is an Admiral in the Navy, actually has almost nothing to do with the military for the most part (excepting the two or three episodes where the main character "leaps" into a military member) - instead focusing on a time traveling supergenius and other psuedo-science. (I mean, really? "A hologram only Dr. Beckett can see and hear."!?)

Bigity has reminded me: I am rather enjoying Modern Family as well.

Although it does leave one with quite the theoretical dilemma.

CS22, Quantum Leap isn't that bad. It was pretty good while it was on, except for some weird things. Oh, and at some point you might find out how Al made Admiral.

Did I seem to imply that I thought it was bad? I mean, I go out of my way to watch it on Hulu, I enjoy it that much.

And the bits with Al are really the only "military" part of the show, which is mainly focusing on Sam. For most of the time, the fact that Al is an Admiral is cursory detail. Compared to Bellisario's more recent work (JAG, NCIS) that is a lot less relation to the military. Although, it is to be expected since Bellisario did serve in the military.

I do apologise. I haven't seen quantum leap and I only did a quick search to check if all his stuff was military related.

I think I might've mentioned this before, but I don't usually catch first-run stuff. I'll sometimes catch a new episode of The Simpsons on the sundays when Kizba works, and we did catch a new(-ish) Bones a week or two ago, but that's about it.

Right now, we're going through season two of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Netflix, with the occasional episode of The Office on Instant Watching. I've also started on Neon Genesis Evangelion, which I'm currently considering to be over-rated, and Astro Boy, which is made of retro-charm.

The missus and I are watching it on DVD, but True Blood is fucking awsomesauce. Seriously - I'm tempted to get HBO just for this.

Just last weekend a friend showed me a few episodes of That Mitchell and Webb Look. I really enjoy a good skit show, and this one is fantastic. I strongly recommend it, especially to people who liked Kids in the Hall and Mr. Show with Bob and David.

I tried watching True Blood, but not even Anna Paquin in tight clothes with a sexy accent was enough for me. On Anna Paquin alone, (A) Where was this accent during the X-Men movies? and (2) She couldn't keep her brown hair? If the character had to be blonde, why not get a blonde actress?* Outside of Anna, the supporting characters are interesting, but the barely-softcore porn is really distracting when they're revealing crucial characterization. I guess I'm just too sensitive for non-historical premium cable. I'll watch Dexter over Kizba's shoulder (the last few minutes of season four are EPIC tragedy), but it's not something I look forward to.

*on the issue of actresses' hair colors, I was also annoyed when I first heard that natural-blonde Kirsten Dunst was cast as redhead MJ in Spider-Man. They made it work, but it (among other things) got ridiculous in 3 when MJ was effectively competing against blonde Gwen Stacy... played by natural-redhead Bryce Dallas Howard. SERIOUSLY?!

I think the gratuitous amounts of sex were more to be a hook because they seemed to happen only in the first few episodes. The latter part of season 1, it was practically non-existent. And you didn't watch nearly enough because she removed those tight-fitting clothes (Kiwi boobage!!!)

The whole concept is just a lot of fun. Waiting on Season 2 to come out on DVD (not very patiently, mind, thanks to TPB).

Anna Paquin in tight clothes with a sexy accent would be enough to make me happily watch pretty much anything.
Current affairs programmes. The news. My own immolation.

It's been a while since I watched it, but Rogue had a Southun accent in X-Men, didn't she?

Anyway. House. I made the mistake of buying Nicola the first series (or season, if you will) and since then I have to watch all of the eighteen repeated episodes that seem to run daily on British cable.
Why do they even bother with the first two treatments? They're always wrong. They should just skip to the third.

Thanks, Jerm, I'll consider that.

As for X-men, the accent was pretty faint, and it didn't really stick. I think it was pretty much gone by X2.

I've been working my way through the Stargate: SG-1 catalog on Hulu (they're all there until May) and I'm up to Season 9. Is it just me, or did things really dark once they encountered the Ori? There just doesn't seem to be anything light-hearted like they had with Richard Dean Anderson.

Anyone watching Caprica? I've taped the first few, but I'm not sure I can be bothered watching them.
