Advice:

Start your character in Ul'dah or Limsa. Gridania, while beautiful, is not a friendly place for new players.

Pay attention to the cutscenes, as they are not only beautiful but will often give you some indication as to what you should be doing.

You can attempt 8 Regional Leves and 8 Local Leves every 48 hours (a.k.a. quests). If you fail a Leve, it still counts.

Do the full intro quest for your city. It will net you a total of 32,000 gil and give you a fair idea of how several things work. Beware of the emote quest portion, though, as it can be very annoying.

I've got my character made, name is Yae Kunoichi (a cookie to whoever gets that reference. Here's a hint: it's not from an anime ). So can someone add me to the Linkshell or something?

Hi, long time lurker here. Thought I'd give it a go since I liked the last one. Character name Zurinai Cintharra. I've got you on my friend list now. So I'll check for you every now and then.

Also, the format is /tell <first name> <last name> <message>.

So, /tell Wallin Halisar Hello!

Or you can add someone to your friends list in the Social Lists and click their name, send a tell to them that way.

Unfortunately, if the person is not online, if you send a tell to a mispelled name or someone who doesn't exist, it'll still look like the message went through.

Hey all... some of us on the Genesis Project (Greg's STO fleet) want to hook up with you guys, too. We also chat over Teamspeak, which of course makes the whole experience a lot more fun. Right now, there are 7 or 8 regulars, and there's always someone on in the evening hours; it's a lot more fun to game with a friend, and I don't think I ever want to go back to gaming solo or in pick-up groups.

I should be on pretty much between 5pm and midnight EST today, so anyone who wants an invite, keep a lookout for me (I'll also be adding everyone to my friends list, if I haven't already, to check occasionally... I don't know if the list updates in real time)... I might log off to do DDR at some point, but otherwise I'll be around.

Just send me a message, and if I don't reply (maybe I'm AFK or just not paying attention), keep sending me messages every 5-10 minutes. Don't worry about spamming me, cause if I'm around I'll whisper you right back, and if I don't I probably just didn't see it.

Wallin Halisar is likely be the only one you'll see.

My alt, Davalimar Esydion, is just a bot to invite people who start in Gridania, but I usually just sit in the center of Ul'dah on Wallin, enjoying the music and the sound of the fountain.
