Power corrupts. Absolute power is kind of neat.

Things done in the maintenance window tonightseriously early this morning:

• Implemented and tested proper backups
• Replaced some files with shiny new ones
• Cleaned up the database
• Removed some unused files that dated back about four years(!)
• Moved the development forums to a more useful location (bet most of you didn't know about them, did you?)
• Cleaned up some fairly ancient posts from Announcements
• Broke a couple of longer conversations out of Stupid Questions Thread Redux
• Removed a pointless insult and formally warned the user
• Probably some other things

Banned several spambots and cleared their signatures. Pondered methods of preventing them in the first place. Considered hiring mercenary ferrets to hunt them down. Decided not worth the cost in chewed furniture during initial meeting.

Hmm. Seems to still work.

Banned a user who came back largely with the same activity that got her banned some time ago.
