Dangit, jimkatai, you stole over half my ideas before I could post them, well, since you did, I'll build off of your character. How's this sound?

Name: "Marcus Robertson" #5364-1134(M)

Age: 25

Specialty: Stealth Tactics (Urban and Rural), Extreme Training and Experience in Light/Lithe Melee Weapons (mostly Blades and Whips), Olympic-calliber Gymnastics, Programming/Hacking

Mundane Skills: Covert Equipment Applications Training and Experience, Languages (English, Spanish, Assorted Computer), Advanced Hacking/Programming, Limited Pistol and SMG Training and Experience.

Bio: Marcus Robertson, dubbed #5364-1134(M) by Black Fox, grew up in a military family. He looked up to his father, and, trying to be just like him, served in the same squad his father had, the Marine Covert Special Forces. After a few years in the MCSF, Marcus was transferred to a Top Secret program, Black Fox. His specialization in Black Fox was an experimental focus on melee combat, but only with such weapons that lend themselves toward finesse and stealth. The theory was to kill the enemy one at a time without attracting attention. Marcus forfeited his vehicle training to focus on computers and security systems. He served under #4579-9823, (Dominic Torrin) in Unit 42 until #4579-9823's escape. Unlike #4579-9823, Marcus' younger, naive nature did not see the evil inherent in Black Fox until, six months later, they set up every member that had any lingering allegence to #4579-9823. Marcus believes himself to be the only living member of the ambush, as no other survivors have contacted him. He recently tracked down #4579-9823 and has been trying to contact him ever since.

Sweetness. That should make this story interesting. My only problem is that everyone in Black Fox is born and bred there. You could say that you still were. Just tooken as a baby from your father, but you couldn't be a member of the Marines and couldn't have known your father, most likely. I know this isn't my RP, and Palazzo might just say forget about it, but the whole being born and bred by the government was really important to Black Fox's story. It has this whole thing about denying people their childhood and a choice in the matter. In my opinion, I would say just to change your initial history. I hate asking this of you, but as I understand it, your dad being a marine doesn't seem to hold that much importance. If it does hold a lot of importance, then you don't have to change it. I just wanted to keep my idea of Black Fox being the way it is. The born and bred thing sort of intensifies the whole trying to keep this covert being the members NEVER have an existing record, and it makes the U.S. look kind of dirty since they are, in a way, making a supreme race. I'm sorry to harp on you and everything, but I just thought I would ask. It's alright if you don't want to change it, I would just prefer if you did.

Easily changed, jimkatai. Fortunately, this is something i've not gotten attached to yet. How's this sound?

Edited Bio:
Marcus Robertson, dubbed #5364-1134(M) by Black Fox, specialized in an experimental focus on melee combat, but only with such weapons that lend themselves toward finesse and stealth. The theory was to kill the enemy one at a time without attracting attention. Marcus forfeited his vehicle training to focus on computers and security systems. Unlike #4579-9823, Marcus' younger, naive nature did not see the evil inherent in Black Fox until, six months later, they set up every member that had any lingering allegence to #4579-9823. Somehow, Marcus survived the ensuing ambush, though it was due to the sacrifice of many of his comrades, and what must have been outside assistance. Marcus believes himself to be the only living member of the ambush, as no other survivors have contacted him. Believing that the only way he could have survived the ambush was with outside assistance, Marcus began looking for the man he believed help him escape with his life, #4579-9823. Three months ago, he finally tracked down #4579-9823 and has been trying to contact him descretely ever since. Marcus believes his most recent attempt was a success.

Name: Kian Gard

Age: 27

Specialties: Covert Infiltration, close-range combat (knives, hand-to-hand), information contacts (through various government agencies)

Mundane skills: Firearms, small-group tactics, swimming, accents, socialite skills, athleticism, bomb tech

Bio: Kian started at the ripe young age of 18 by joining the Marine Corps. Because of his background in hunting and martial arts, he quickly picked up on the nuances of Marine weaponry as well as rapid familarization with Marine hand-to-hand techniques.

Before long, he applied to be a SEAL. By then, he had already established a reputation of great physical and mental prowess. Kian Gard was a shoe-in.

After over a year and a dozen successful missions with the SEALs, Kian was approached by a mysterious man claiming to be a government agent. He was. He was inviting Kian a chance to join a black-ops team known only as the College. Their goal was pre-emptive strikes, espionage, infiltration, and information gathering. In short, they were to do what so many other government agencies, both of intelligence and war, wished they could do. As far as the government was concerned, the College did not exist. Kian accepted.

Years went by. Kian would vanish from his home on a 'business trip' and return several days later. Few of his exploits would make the news. Of those, only the missions with substantial fireworks were mentioned at all. And of course, nothing was ever even remotely connected to the U.S. government. In many many of the "quieter" assignments, the target individual, group, or nation, never realised that they had been compromised.

After six years, Kian was approached by another stranger. He offered no names, but instead asked if he would be interested in yet another non-existant program designed to protect his country. When Kian expressed interest, the stranger handed him a card bearing a time, date, and address.

OOC: Well, there's a rough draft :P It's late and I'm tired, so it's a little muddy. But, I've got a basic outline, as well as a hook into the hidden world. He's got a LOT of training in strictly human affairs, let's see how well it holds up...

That's cool. Thanks for compromising. :D Also, just note that Marcus Robertson isn't your real name. It's just an alias that let's you exist in the real world. Also, how exactly old is your character? I think I should make it apparent Dominic is only about 14 or 15. You see, Mel Carnahan is an actual Senator that died in a plane crash in 2000. I thought it would be interesting to fully integrate it in the real world. That and I thought it would be real interesting to play a young character, for multiple reasons. I know this is getting annoying with all these nuances, but I'm just wondering if you have problems with this. I have no problem

Darkhan, tsk tsk tsk.... you haven't been reading the thread have you? I just got onto sombody for having to many specialities...

But you've got four! And I would qualify them as all physical/mental specialities....and why would someone trained for advanced melee tactics need to have hacking skills... also your bio doesn't even mention the computer skills. and olymipc caliber gymnastics? are you a 105 pound 5'5" guy or something cause that's about what you'd have to be.

Also while I don't mind the mixed backgrounds as long as it's played out, I'd rather not have multiple people from the same secret government organization.

If you insist on playing that character, you need to drop two of those specialities( I would suggest the gymnastics and hacking). adjust your mundane skills, possibly putting gymnastics there, and change your bio like jimkatai suggested with the born and bred government thing...and of course your age is going to be unknown.

-I still have not selected all spots for the game.
-
-Not everyone has to be super combat orintated.
-
-If you are your character may get blueballed from not needing to kill everything.
-
-While there will be action there is also going to be a large amount of investigation and searching to take place.

Damnit! I type way to slow!

Posted Wed Feb 09, 2005 1:25 am:

GAH! what's with everyone being a government agent of some type....and members of sectret government groups...I SHOULD just say that I won't choose any character with a secret government job, but I won't.

I was loosely basing this off of World of Darkness and Call of Cthulu. More suspense and intrege(sp?) than fighting.

But it is based in the real world, right? And I will get to keep my character, unconditionally, right?

jimkatai, I don't understand your post.

Yes, it's based on the world as it is now.

Since your character was the first of it's kind there is a better chance of it being allowed. But by no means is it "unconditionally".

Wait, I don't get it. So, are we waiting for carefully inspected approval now? I was thinking we could control multiple characters. I was going to make a smart character for you, since you said you needed one

I said in the begining I would select 4-7 characters based on varity and mixability. If I have four people be highly trained military types it becomes a quick strike squad, or some other highly effective team that would stand in waiting for the word to rush in and kill whatever was giving people trouble.

No, you can only have one character. But if you submit more than one the chances of one of yours being chosen for the game. I'm just asking for a little variety.

To make things clear I'll say who I've given spots to. So far the only ones that are "in" are Grumlen's character and DemitriFlameGG's, the others have all been close to the same, though yours was the first so it has priority....of some sort...

Hmm... Il Palazzo Sama no likey similar characters? Ok, scratch the first one. I'll think of something new, but i like the name, so I'm keeping it. And can you clarify Social skills? I'm hard pressed to think of a speciaization in that category.

Posted Wed Feb 09, 2005 12:49 pm:

How's this one, Il Palazzo Sama? Practically no fighting abilities at all, only what a normal person would have. I'll leave the fighting to the others. I dunno if the MENSA thing really made a difference after i wrote the bio, so it's just there to signify that he's smart.

Name: Marcus Robertson
Age: 20
Specialities: Lore (Nocturnal Undead), Member of MENSA, Recognition (Scholastic)
Mundane skills: Research, Multilingual (Latin, Greek, Spanish), Multilingual (German, Romanian, Russian), Puzzle/Riddle Expert, Criminology, Art History, Advanced Mathematics
Bio:Marcus Robertson began his life as most people do. He played games as a child, attended public schools, lived with his parents. Unlike most children, however, Marcus was special. His mother found him in his room, one day, with a completed rubik's cube and several pieces of paper, scrawlled with equations, beside him. He was reading his older brother's high school algebra textbook. To his mother's suprise, Marcus understood everything he had read. After his mother had his IQ tested, he attracted the attention of MENSA. Marcus had the option of skipping most grade-school levels, but his parents decided against it, wanting him to have normal social development. He spent most of his time in classes solving riddles and mathmatical puzzles instead of listening to his teachers. After high school, however, Marcus truely began to shine. In four years, he graduated from Harvard with five Bachelor's Degrees (Linguistics, Art History, History (with a specialization in Folklore), Criminology, and Mathematics). He decided that since he enjoyed Folklore more than his other majors, he would focus solely on it. Marcus wrote his dissertaion, A Theory Behind the Nocturnal Undead, Their Origins, and Their Effect on the World Of Man, giving him international fame in scholastic circles (as well as from the followers of the occult and the occasional Pop-Culture TV show/movie), and is considered one of the premier pieces of undead-folklore theory of the modern day. After recieving his Master's and PhD in Folklore, Marcus began to do some real world research. What he found shocked him; he could almost prove the existance of some creatures that obviously don't exist. This caught the attention on an organization known as the Patron Saints.
