ooc: shorty, but to the point.. Il Pallazo sama, sorry about being late with this, just busy with school and all..

Name: Nicholas Ferdinand
Age: early 30's
Org Ties: Catholic Church
specialities: Christian ritual; martial arts combat; knowledge of mythical beasts: focus on the weakness of.
Mundane skills:Multilingual-English, Japanese, Chinese; marksmanship (dual pistol); mountain climbing; low level alchemy (it is up to Il Pallazo sama on what he can actually make.. I was thinking along the lines of some healing type items and maybe some basic combat items.. alchemy is strictly a hobby though).
Bio: Nicholas began his adult life as a preacher. His life changed one day however, when his paritioners began to disapear. Nicholas traced the signs back to a particularly nasty young vampire, whom he killed on the spot. From that day forward he has taken to searching out the weaknesses in nasty so-called "mythical" creatures. He requested reasignment from his parish and was assigned to a position within the Patron Saints, where he has been for the past 5 years.

I thought we cleared this up already . . . Patron Saints and The Catholic Church are NOT the same organization. They are rivals and competition for eachother. That is, unless I'm reading everything wrong

And that makes for the 3rd posted character who specializes in mythological creature (mainly their weaknesses). >.>

Also, not every character in the world knows martial arts. The fact is, when facing a supernatural being I think the last thing you want to do is to get into unarmed combat with it. Thats why I skipped the whole martial arts thing and went with bladed weaponry, because any advantage I have over them is very welcome.

Just to make it clear, the only reason I included martial arts as a mundane skill is that most people who can wield a sword with much skill do know a few basic martial arts principles; principles that help you know how to move and react in battle. He's not a kung-fu master, but this side of training wasn't completely neglected either.

You have to understand, people when given the choice will often choose not to think. It's not that people are intentionally creating similar characters, it's that everyone sees certain character archaetypes as being more desireable. 2 of those main archaetypes are already seen here in large numbers: the dextrous warrior and the intelligent warrior (essentially ninja-type characters). Variations on the theme result in some being more up-close than others, or more academic oriented than others, but all of them are designed to supposedly be able to fight anthing they need to on their own. People don't like the thought of having a character that can't defend themselves. I'm not gonna post my char here, but apparently he was the first submited . . . and he has NO combat skills or specializations AT ALL.

Is there anyone out there who would like to call me on this? Or have I pretty much hit the nail on the head?

By the way, if anyone would like for me to give them a good hint as to another character type that Palazzo would instantly allow in the campaign, PM me. First come, first serve. He'll hate me for it, but he'd still rather have a the character I'd suggest than another warrior.

Mmmk. As a note, Andrew's "combat" skills, including his handgun skills, are mostly throwbacks to his on-the-streets days that he likes to keep up. Yeah, he's good hand-to -hand, but nothing spectacular. He can hit a target fairly well with a handgun, but he rarely carries. His design and intent could be described as a field-op academic. Enough skills to take care of himself if need be, but don't count on him as point if things get rough. I suppose Dick Tracey would be an adequate analogous character.

So, if anybody thinks Andrew is a warrior, think again. If you watch CSI, he's kind of like an older Nick Stokes, with more Greg Sanders in his blood.

Interesting analogy. Palazzo, are characters still able to be profecient in magic? I've been kicking around a few character backgrounds, but more of them rely on a more Celtic or Norse mythology, though there is one "super Priest" idea I've been toying with.

Well, my character is better then all of yours cause it was kick ass and it was so 1337 and uber and amazing so stfu you bastards, cause mine is better!!!!!!!!!! Oh, wait just a sec. I have to wipe all this dripping sarcasm off my keyboard now. Oh, and about the young character, mine was actually pretty original in the fact that he's 14!!!!!!!!!! That is incredibly young and that's why I used it. I am really aiming for the bad government scheme here. Then again, everyone thinks their's is the supreme in originality (including me)

I admit that mine isn't original, but it is original to this rp.

Actually, Grumlen, my second character (half way down page 2) has pretty much no ability to fight back, and is not a warrior at all. No fighting specializations or skills; he has to fight back like you or I would. His main purpose is telling everyone else how to hurt what we'll be fighting. If he dies, we lose no fighting prowess, but lose the advantage of knowing weaknesses.

Strictly speaking, if I could make a buff/debuff character, I would, cause that's my favorite; weak alone, but makes any group he's in twice as effective. We can't do that in this world, though.
Power. Wisdom. Courage.
