Thanks for the great layout...

Name: Franco Sevilla

Age: 35

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 195"

Nation of Origin: Born in Spain to Spanish Father, Hungarian Mother

Languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, French [If you think this is unrealistic, you can actually test me, and I won't need babelfish, I (the player.. and the character) really speak them, although my portuguese is a little rusty.]

Not that I think portuguese, italian, or french will be of any immediate ned
Also speak "conversational" hungarian - gleand from mom - Although dad didn't want my character to learn it, she did, so my character would be "half" literate

Occupation: Retired US Army Officer [discharged after striking a superior officer]

Belongings:

  • Pens & Paper
  • Laminated (like rand mcnally) Area map
  • 180 Year old, gold pocket watch.
  • Tech swiss army knife - Has memory key, laser pointer, [these really do exist] Scissors, measuring tape [3 foot], plus the usuals .. knife, spoon, screwdrivers, fish scaler, emeryboard, magnifying glass, toothpick, , etc..
  • "Dollar Sized" vest pocket wallet

    • €220
    • Brisbon, Portugal ID
    • US Military ID identifying him as a Lieutenant Colonel" of the army..
      ID appears to be expired.
    • A pin with a logo that looks like a "crooked" letter M with a circle above it..

      Half a dozen passports.
    • black backpack

      • Assuming "AA" and "AAA" batteries are still the de-facto standard for small electronics.. I've got some of those - If the world has "moved on" to some other, more logical, yet, very common portable power source.. I've got it.. "So, if, like, you would be saying Well, in this world every portable electronic is powered by a hydrogen-xenon J cell battery - Then I've got a 1/2 dozen of them" ..
      • 72 ounce water bladder that goes under that backpack (with a bite-me type sucky nozzle)
      • A bottle of water purifacation tablets [usually 50 - like a pill bottle. mostly contains safe-chlorine, but has some deposit trapping function as well.. 1 tab can turn a gallon of "dirty/salt" water [but, not say.. sewage or something] into drinkable water - It'll taste like crap still, but it will be biologically harmless
      • 3 bags of beef jerky, low sodium, sweet honey teriyaki, specifically.

A box of MRE's in my basement.

I'd like to say I'm carrying some sort of weapon.. but I don't know if that's permissible. If it is, I'd like to claim a glock21

Battle experience.

Well, as you can imagine, as a retired lt. colonel in america's army, I've seen quite a lot. I was just a pre-teen during the beginning stages of america's supposed war on terror. I watched on television George Bush's beheading for treason on my 18th birthday. After Dick Cheney got the Draft reinstated, I was suddenly a soldier in america's army. Having been brought up in such a strict paternal household [highly disciplined] I easily advanced through the lower ranks as a 'star pupil' At 20 (in 2008) I was awarded my first of many medals for valor in the battle field when I single handedly took out a french tank [by this time, the french had finally decided to show some willpower, and joined forces with north korea] which ultimately was responsible for saving the life of a 3 star general.

I became quite the military celebrity (not say, as famous as colin powel or schwarkzkopf, by any means - but my name was in a newspaper or two).
After the war on terror ended for the 9th time [8 other mission accomplished's were seen] in 2012, my fame died down, and my career finally took off after I was appointed a post in military intelligence. While I was still working, my post was 'unclassiffied' (read.. blackops) - I made it to lt. colonel in 2020, and had my 'incident' with the same 3 star general, whose life I had saved 12 years before. This fact was most likely the only reason I was discharged instead of courtmartialed.

Since my retirement, I've been doing... "private security" work, - being a counteractive element against.. people of questionable intent. [ :-) ]

My last assignment left me in my mothers home town, as it ended on April 22nd, 2023 in the town of lezjask, poland.

Since war broke out within a few days of this, I was not able to 'get out' and go to a safer location [to find another private security gig, of course]

So, now, I wake up each morning in my mothers home, looking at a bright red school house across the street. One of the few homes that isn't COMPLETELY destroyed from the bombing... [actually, just minor damage - nothing threatening the integrity of the edifice - actually, the biggest threat is all the rubble around the house from the neighbor's place]

I have foodstuffs, clothes, and such in my home. As well as a 2 empty bedrooms.

Two problems. One is the beheading of Bush, which, while hilarious, is not practical at all. We'll just ignore that and say Bush reinstated the draft. The other is this. An American kid that is the child of two immigrants knows seven languages, six fluently? Especially when four of the languages have nothing to do with any of your countries of origin. This is all completely alright, but you would have had to attend a private school because public schools would not have had portuguese or italian available. Just come up with a family history. That's my only actual requirement. Then you can make it believable. Neither of these is a huge problem. Just suggestions. My only big issue so far is we only have two character profiles so far... :x

Name: Sebastion Smigilski
Age: 24
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 155"
Nation of Origin: Poland
Languages: English, Polish
Occupation: Teacher (whatever level is the equivalent of high school in Poland, I assume it's a bit different than America.)
Belongings: [list]

[*]Pens
[*]Bifold wallet with no cash, and a photo ID.
[*]Analog watch
[*]Leatherman

I'll post my dude's background later, as I'm tired right now and low on imagination.

Also, HeyNorto, Glocks are notorious for frequent jamming (and, on occasion, exploding) when chambered for anything other than 9mm. Just a little tidbit.

Since I seem to be getting a little more attention now, I'll summarize all the changes that have happened since the first post, plus add some right now

- It's Lezajsk, not Lejask.

- Language line was added.

- The school is k-12. It is changed from k-8.

- be realistic with your weapons. otherwise, I have no problem with them. Heynorton does a good example of the believable possession of a weapon

- New technologies: Basically everything from today, but cheaper and cleaner. I don't really ant to add new technologies because it could convolute things.

- Google Earth Location: 50(degree symbol)15'42 North, 22 (degree symbol) 25'03 East. Still asking some help for this so it can make it easier for people to find. Also, I suggest downloading Google Earth because the school is only the starting point of this RP.

- The Eastern Europe Map

Not actually arguing this point, but the language background is true for me, and I attended public school. - The language background was to show that the parental units instilled the value of education and (for that matter) hardwork, in me at an earlier time. The bush comment was meant for levity (or was it wishful thinking?) Since many of the languages don't play a role, then it should be ok to leave them in.! :-)

Being that I am multilingual, I tend to overlook the fact that most people aren't. - This is also the future, so, hell, it might be much easier to learn languages. - the "Applicable" Languages were, in my story line, picked up in his service in the military (for their intel value) where as papa made me learn the romance languages.

Also.. the glock21 was meant to be 9mm in my request, so.. the jamming/exploding issue that happens with 'alternate' sizes was not an issue.

My basic concept is.. "Dad spoke many romance languages, and moved us around alot to france, italy, spain, and portugal (as well as US) [I have since come to suspect that dad was a spy, or, alternatively a wanted man] that I was able to get those languages through immersion.

Since I'm not actually an "American Kid"... that problem isn't relative, I think?

I mean, this is all with your permission of course. - He was born in spain, has a spanish name, and has 35 years (12+ in the military) of 'cultural blending' in him.

He naturally would have learned, (in spite of dads objections) passing hungarian phrases, but, is, in NO way, fluent.. [which would be an actualy negative] - Can find a bathroom, restaurant, haggle prices, but couldn't hold a conversation.

He doesn't actually speak polish... so he's actually, functionally, at a disadvantage!. He speaks english and german, which are the only applicable languages I can imagine. - Common sense helps him find his way, but he hasn't been around the area long enough to pick up polish - He'll get it by immersion, if they can stop bombing the place.

I want to clarify that his mother is hungarian borne and raised, and the lezjask being his mothers "home town" was meant to say.. "Where she lived when she PASSED AWAY" - Not that she was born in poland, or had any other connection to poland than the convenient story building player created coincidence that she lived across the street from the school.

The home is his inheritence.

Dear old Dad said that the reason we moved around so much was because he was a "corporate problem solver" that was sent to different areas to help streamline operations at the factories, offices, etc, of the company he worked for, Nike. - According to what I was brought up to believe, nike would ship him (and therefore, us) somewhere for a year or two, and we'd stay there until things were "running right again", then they'd send us somewhere else.

Dad was killed in a "freak accident" when his car exploded while we were living in the US, when I was in my teens.

Hmmmmmm... that sounds good. I still don't like all the languages, or at least some tweaking to the process, but, like you said, it isn't a big deal, so I'll keep it.

Is this game still going to occur? Or am I the deathnell of forum games. Seems each one I've signed up for has gone nowhere.

Name: Darin Saine

Age: 16

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 155 lb

Nation of Origin: U.S.

Languages: English, Spanish, Polish (via pocket phrase book, so not very good)

Occupation: Exchange student

Belongings: iPod nano (with 58 songs), Black/grey backpack, .30-.06 w/x10 zoom scope (explained in bio)

Physical Description: Darin is tall, at least at his school back in Arkansas. His once short black hair has grown longer and shaggier (just below ears) in the five months (January to May) of his stay in Poland. His skin is a pale white, and his eyes black pools that burn with a cold fury when he is angered.

Experiences in Battle: Few. After the battle he picked off a few lone soldiers with the rifle he found in a hunting store that had been damaged in the battle.

Bio: As I sit here in a dark, cold, half demolished building in the middle of the night, I cannot help but think back on the events that led up to this miserable existance here in a foreign country, caught in a foreign war.

At the beginning of January, my school advertised a student-exchange program to Poland. I had always been the curious sort, my friends jokingly called me an information-junkie. The joke doesn't seem so funny now. I signed up of course, and within a week after paying the $1,000 fee, I was on my way to Poland with two of my best friends.

When we arrived, we were put into a school in Lezask. Our education resumed almost as normal, but with a few added classes that at the moment, with gunfire barking in the distance, I don't care to mention. It went on like that until May 15, ten days from when I would be getting back on the plane to the States. I had of course, been keeping up to date on the incidents with the UNB, I was an info-junkie after all.

Now, I liked to consider myself rather good at predicting political currents. But never did I think that an ambassador would be assassinated simply for trying to expand his nation's borders. But it did. And war was declared on Poland, the country I was currently residing in. That was a little under a month ago. Ten days ago, May 15 as I said, the UNB bombed the school I was attending. Luckily, I was not caught in the blast, and received only a few minor cuts and abbraisions from the shrapnel. My two friends, however, were both dead.

Now, fearing the surely approaching UNB soldiers, I grabbed my bag and fled. I ran for five days before reaching the outskirts of the city. Along the way, I picked up a familiar American make rifle. A Winchester .30-.06 if I remember right. The engraved brand name has been worn from use. I stocked up on bullets and, on the sixth night of fleeing, turned around, and headed back towards the school, determined to avenge my friends. And tomorrow, I head out again, I should be in sight of the school by noon.
