Cyberliger777, I think it's cool, but you're not supossed to post them, you're supossed to PM seditionist.

KaymeeraUnleashed, Star Wars is not set in the past. and even if it was they would have an equivilent for it... they travel thru space. pi is basic and needed for a great many things that are far less complicated than space flight. some people may not know what it is if they are fringers and the dregs of society but anyone with some education would knoiw of it. pi is just cooler than a standard number

Also if pi, the greek symbol is too foreign then why would a more modern "R2-D2" not trouble you. R and D are more advanced than their greek roots.

Well, he didn't actually post any information that isn't allowed to be shown in the thread, so its alright. But the bio and other things should be PMed to me.

As for pi, even though Star Wars does take place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the number pi is, like Palazzo said, essential to higher mathematics, which the civilizations of the Star Wars universe have clearly mastered.

As probably has been mentioned..

"Long time ago in a galaxy far far away.."

Certainly signifies the past to me.

yes, that is what the movie says. The whole movie is being told from a storytelling perspective, while it never comes out and says it. The time frame is irrelivant.

essentially what is happening is their language is being translated on the spot into ours, along with their concepts etc (its how i always picture things happening in books etc that are not from a human english viewpoint) so although they are aware of pi, they would use a different symbol for it and call it something eles and that is then translated into our concept of pi with the symbol to allow us 2 understand it.

Actually, there is only 1 time frame issue with this: the R2 series of droids wouldn't exist yet. The T3 series, however, does. This isn't me being some Star Wars history buff, it's just me building off of the fact that this is centuries before the Star Wars movies. Astromech droids are still prominent though, and I assume thats the main goal of what you want to play.

The T3s look like cylinders, no domed heads!

That said, who here has played the KotOR series?

I have..

played both of em... lost all my save games just before finishing kotor 1, and never got round to replaying it, but finished kotor 2. thought both games were excellent though :)

Il palazzo, you are right. I posted too early in the morning for me (10 a.m. is far too early) and what you said didnt quite penetrate my brain. Also, i think its millenia before the films rather than just centuries (about 3 or 4 thousand years if i remember rightly)

Okay, as for the R2 unit thing, I don't really have a preference. Grumlen is probably right in that they probably weren't invented yet, but if you really prefer to be an R2 unit we can probably make that work. Maybe he's from the first ever batch of R2 units or a prototype for what will eventually be the R2 units.

Other than that, I just recieved workmad3's character so I'll post that in the post where all the others are. We probably have enough people to start, but I'd like to wait a couple more days just in case. Also, I will have very limited computer access until Saturday night, so I'm not sure if I'll be available til then to answer any questions or accept any more characters. I'll set the start date for Tuesday and if we don't have more people by then we'll start anyway and I'll just include a little tag that says we are accepting characters that want to join late.

Until Saturday night! :D

Yeah, sorry I didn't post last night. There wasn't really anything I had to say. Still crossing my fingers that we get another player before we start, but that hope is looking dim.

still got a couple of days.

Just to warn now, I might not be around too often right at the start. Going to be at my mums and not as frequent access as I would like. Only for a couple of days though, and then back to normal
