I'm not much for introduction threads, but I'm having trouble posting and wanted a non-obnoxious place to experiment until it works.

So... hi.

A non-obnoxious place to experiment? What forum do you think you're on? :P

Yeah, welcome. How about you tell us a little something about yourself? We can go for a cocktail maybe. Who knows? See where the evening takes us.

I meant that I didn't want to annoy you folks.

About me... Well, I don't drink cocktails (or any alcohol) and I'm not particularly looking for this kind of evening, if that's what you're implying. I like drawn people of all kinds; characters from comic strips, cartoons, or Norman Rockwell illustrations. I think the best animation ever put to film is seen during the credits (opening and closing) of the movie A Series of Unfortunate Events. I'm also strangely fascinated by the animation from the Abilify commercials -- how do they get the mouths to move so perfectly in sync with the voice acting? Why can't other cartoons do that?

I'm happily married (10 years in October, no kids). I have a little talent at making websites, and am trying to get into that as a career. In the meantime, I work crappy day jobs at grocery stores, gas stations, and the like.

I've always liked political forums and the principles by which politics works. I read US history books in my spare time, and think of The American Way (tm) as a historic innovation worth reverence (I guess that makes me Republican), but my favorite online hangout is in the midst of falling apart under the weight of systematic brain drain (ie, stupid people are praised and smart people condemned). I've always liked Real Life (I think of it as the comic I would make if I had time & talent), so I thought I might find a reasonable replacement here.

Apparently my "trouble posting" was due to a 2-week delay between clicking Submit and Administrator approval. Is that normal? Just for newbies, to ensure they're not spammers? [edit]Apparently the latter, since this post appeared instantly. Okay, then.[/edit]

Yes, I know the movie. I don't know the animation you're talking about though. All I really remember was asking myself some worrying questions about the chick that's in it.

You've come to the right place for political debate. Things have been a little slow of late, but don't let that put you off. Also there are several animation perverts onsite. You shouldn't be at a loss for discussion, and we certainly don't praise stupidity.

Here are the credits I was talking about and some more info. They're just beautiful and otherworldly. Somehow, it's totally fitting that they were made in a town called Ojai.
