Unhappy about Real Life Support Group

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Sorry I haven't come in and been more vocal, but I'm frankly kind of ashamed of how far behind I let it get, so I was trying to just knuckle down and make something HAPPEN before I came in here. I'd been trying to do silly stuff like print the booklets at work, and that's just not working, so I bit the bullet and bought a couple more toner cartridges for our printer here at home like I'd done in the past. They're pricey, so I'd been trying to find other ways of getting it done, but I just couldn't justify it any more.

It weighs pretty heavily on me how behind I am, but I'm not just giving up on this, and I'm not letting it drop. I'm going to catch up or die trying.

Appreciate the offer, Cybertimer... but sadly, nothing that can really be farmed out. It's all comicking and printing and stapling and folding and stuffing and labeling. Liz is going to be able to help out with the former stuff, but unless you wanna pull a Jim Davis and start doing the comic for me, I kinda have to do the hard work myself. :P

One of those things that you do does not require talent. The other does. And you offer me the one that requires talent! Funny man you are indeed.
While I have been tempted to submit a guest comic now and again, I not so good at the drawing aspect. Now that I think about it, lemme see if there is an app for that... pulling comic ideas from brain to phone.

Well, the one that doesn't require talent is going to be handled by Liz. :P Which really only left the drawing to be farmed out. :)

I have no idea if Liz is going to stay at home a while or if she is going to continue pursuing her career, but even if she stays at home, she is going to be hard pressed to find the time to do the stuffing and labeling once the baby is here, at least if your experience is anything like mine...

How do I switch from the $15 plan to the $5 plan? I like getting the bonus comics on Saturday, but I'm tired of paying $10 extra a month for booklets I'm not getting. And tbh, my husband is tired of me wasting the money too. :/

(and I'm starting to believe I'm NEVER going to get my shirt ninja figurine...after years of begging in posts & emails...)

You must be kidding.

No really, you must be.

Your wife is about to have a baby, an excruciating process, and you expect her to be up at and at 'em the next day to help you with YOUR job? You both are going to be physically and mentally exhausted from this ordeal in the coming months, her even moreso. I can't believe that you think once the baby's born that everything is going to magically just get done and we're going to leave you alone.

Reality check: IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

I suggest the following: You either start refunding people for their money from the statues, the booklets (and just kill that off right now) and that damn book you keep promising is going to happen, or you stop publishing the comic for a week, get in gear and start mailing people stuff, BEFORE the baby is born. You haven't been fair to anyone in this, and to think that you think your pregnant wife is going to be able to help you, especially with the difficulty of this pregnancy thus far, is absolutely laughable.

I have sat here waiting patiently with the rest of the group, watching as hope of our items coming to us dwindles. I think it's absurd to think that you'll be doing anything for the next five years beyond raising children. They're going to come first, no matter how much you want to do a comic or all the wonderful things related to it.

Ask for help, Greg. Reach out and accept the help people have offered. It is the LEAST you can do to to mend some wounds here.

Darcerin, I'm not kidding at all. I'm getting my ass into gear with both the booklets AND the figurines, and the baby isn't going to change any of that. And furthermore, the books are not only happening - they're happening SOON. Like, very very soon.

The decision to have a kid has been my own, but it's not going to preclude everything else in my life. I still have a job to do, and I'm committed to it. Every bill I get paid off has meant I have more money to spend on getting more of this stuff done, and I HAVE been making strides in that department. And Liz and I both know what's involved with the booklets - the folding and packing is, believe it or not, not that difficult of a job. It's time consuming, yes - but it's not something that anyone else can really help with. And I didn't ASK Liz to help me... I fully planned on doing this alone. Liz insisted, and she knows what's involved. It's something that can honestly be done in bed, if she so desired.

Plain and simple: I've owned up to the fact that I dropped the ball on this, but I'm not OKAY with that, and the only way I can see to make it right is to knuckle down and work twice as hard to fix it. I'm not going to give up.

Another month since Greg's last post. Outstanding booklets: 1.5 years. :( :( :( :(

How do I switch from the $15-plan to the $5 plan?

How about the "I cancel my plan all together until Greg gets his butt back in gear" plan?

This is insanity, and I point to my previous post about nothing getting done after Harper was born.

I might still do that, although the weekly comic by mail is (more or less) working. Still deciding...
