Re: A Grave World
Wait... there were guards posted at the tomb? Is there any record of what they saw?

Re: A Grave World
I meant why would the Romans kill the disciples if they could easily prove that the body was still in the tomb, or make up some story to make them less believable... Hmm... was blasphemy against the state religion a capital crime? If that were so, they would consider themselves justified in killing...

Re: A Grave World
To answer your question, any reports of the resurrection independent of Jesus' followers were probably lost. Reason being, historians of the day (take Josephus for example) were concerned more about political movements and the like. Combine that with Jesus only staying around for a little over a mo...

Re: A Grave World
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15 that unless resurrection exists, Jesus could not have resurrected, and if Jesus didn't come back from the dead, then their faith was meaningless. If you were an follower, you would've built up an intense faith that absolutely ruled your life. Now.. given this mindset,...

Re: A Grave World
I highly suspect that many people would die a painful and humiliating death (being crucified upside down anyone?) for something they knew wasn't true... Depends on how they thought of it, really. If the story of Jesus was a metaphor for their religious beliefs, or a parable or something - a way of ...

Re: A Grave World
I have to say.. I agree with Fireaza is trying to say.
Why is it less likely that Jesus' story was simply exaggerated through years of retelling, and more likely that he actually is a deity?
And.. why does this suggestion suddenly demand denouncement?

Re: Am I getting fatter, or is a kilogram getting lighter
How about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planck_units ? Planck units are based on elements of physics that are valid in any region of space. They're not dependent on any prototypes or arbitrary elements where someone said "this is how big a foot is". The base units themselves are mostly radi...

Re: TI-89 Calculator
Funny, I thought the TI-86 was the top of the line. Most of the TI-8x calculators were based off of the Zilog Z80 processor, while the 9x were based off of the Motorola 68k. The 89 is actually an extension of the 9x series, designed to fit inside the vertical form factor. The difference is important...
