The Waiting Game

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

The Waiting Game

Post by KingInYellow » Fri Mar 05, 2004 9:16 am

"A watched pot never boils." - Traditional saying

"No, no. You've got it backwards. It's supposed to be 'A watched boil never pops.'" - Anonymous tounge-in-cheek comeback

"Now we play the waiting game!... Aww. The waiting game sucks. Let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos." - Homer Simpson

In all seriousness, however. Didn't Greg play this very game before at some point? Not quite in the same manner, but very similar thereto.

Ah. Here it is. - http://www.reallifecomics.com/daily.php?strip_id=916

Ahh. Poor Greg. Just can't catch a break. Well. Hang in there. Patience is a virtue.

Oh wait. No. The virtues are Compassion, Humility, Honesty, Justice, Sacrifice, Honor, Valor, and Spirituality. Patience isn't anywhere in there, is it?

What was I thinking of? :glare:

Oh well. Whatever.
"The room was empty of furnishment, save for a five-pillared seat rising so far aloft without stairs or other means of approach, that it seemed only a winged being could ever attain thereto. But on the seat was a figure shrouded with thick, sable darkness, and having over it's head and features a caul of grisly shadow." - Clark Ashton Smith. "The Seven Geases."

"Cthulhu saves! After all... he might get hungry later..."

"A watched TiVO never ships"

And yeah, I remembered the "Has my Laptop Shipped Yet?" comic too. That was one of my favorites.

"A watched auction will never be bid upon.."

That's the story of my life... this week... anyway.

Unless you're watching the auction after you've bid on it. Then it will be bid on 2 seconds before it's over.

So what happens if you've just made a bid and are watching it as time expires, but right after your bid, the seller begins watching his auction? At T minus two seconds, another bidder will simultaneously bid AND not bid. Who wins the auction?
