On the "Number of the Beast"...

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

On the "Number of the Beast"...

Post by KingInYellow » Wed Mar 10, 2004 10:06 am

"Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man, and his number is six hundred three score and six." - Revelations 13:18

"'I think if the Devil dosen't exist, then man has created him. He has created him in his own image and likeness.'" -Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

"'Just as Man created God, then?', observed Alyosha." - Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

I'm not going to bore you nice people today by blathering endlessly on this topic in my own words. The number 666 has already seen more than enough discussion and interpretation by folks who are a lot smarter and wiser than me.

In fact, I've found a link compiling a little of what they've dug up and found over the years. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_ ... umerology)

Read if you like. Or not. I put it out merely for food for thought. The only opinion I have left to express on this matter is that... well... I have no strong opinion. :? There's so much out in the world that is worth fearing that fretting over a simple number can strike one as silly.

Then again... I also believe that there are far greater cogs driving the universe than we can perceive with our mortal senses alone, and who really knows what truly lurks in the dark corners of the world... and our own hearts and minds.

(And don't say the Shadow. I'm on to you people.)

Well. That's my two gil. Over to you folks.
"The room was empty of furnishment, save for a five-pillared seat rising so far aloft without stairs or other means of approach, that it seemed only a winged being could ever attain thereto. But on the seat was a figure shrouded with thick, sable darkness, and having over it's head and features a caul of grisly shadow." - Clark Ashton Smith. "The Seven Geases."

"Cthulhu saves! After all... he might get hungry later..."

"Woe to you, on earth and sea. For the devil sends his beasts with wrath, because he knows the time is short. Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast, for it is a human number. It's number is six hundred and sixty six."
- Iron Maiden
"The two become one.... both Soul Reavers... together... and the scion of Balance is healed.... and I am not your enemy... not your destroyer... I am, as before, your right hand..... your Sword."
- Raziel

I left along, my mind was blank,
I needed time to get the momories from my mind.

What did I see? Can I believe? That what I saw that night was real and not just fantasy.

Just what I saw, im my own dreams, were they reflections of my warped mind staring back at me?

'Cos in my dreams, it's always there! The evil face that twists my mind brings me to despair.

The night was black, was no use holding back.
Cos I just had to see was someone watching me.
In the mist dark figures move and twist,
Was this all for real or just some kind of hell?
666, the number of the beast!
Hell and fire was spawned just to be released.

Torches blazed and sacred chants were praised
as they start to cry hands held to the sky
In the night fires and burning bright,
the ritual has begun Satan's work is done
666 the number of the beast
Sacrifice is going on tonight.

This can't go on, I must inform the law
Can this still be real of just some crazy dream
but I geel drawn towards the evil chanting hordes
they seem to mesmerise... can't avoid their eyes
666 the number of the beast
666 the one for you and me

I'm coming back, I will return
And I'll posess your body and I'll make your body burn
I have the fire I have the force
I have the power to make my evil take it's course
^ Full lyricage.
