Now I know this just came out, but if you were a true gamer you'd have it. You'd have had it several days ago, too, although it shouldn't seem like that long. Those 20 minutes rounds go by fast, eh?

My main reason for posting is to create a wee bit of a discussion type thing, about the game and all. Hence the title.

First off: Has anyone found any major bugs? For example, if you uninstall the demo version has everything kinda funked out? I'm curious as to whether I need to reinstall or what.

Second: Windows or Linux? Gurus report a lessening in loading screens in the Linux version; however, I've been too busy [gaming] to install on that partition to compare.

First of all:
http://reallifeforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=9822

And anyway.... Havn't tried the linux install yet. Mainly cause my linux box is slow and has a crappy video card. Maybe if there were more games for linux I would consider beefing that box up. Don't need much better for desktop use.

I did notice that there is a lot of slowdown in the windows version. Never get more than 40-50fps on my 9800pro 128 card no matter what is going on. Hopefully they will fix this in the first patch.

Still have the demo installed so i couldn't tell you about unistalling it.

Tried out the voice recognition for commanding bots in single player yet? For me it's either not working or my voice is too low for it to recognize or it doesn't like my simi-texan accent. Dunno but it never works for me.

Anyway, game kicks ass.
I'll have to list the ip of the servers i've been playing on. Especially the invasion server.

Mine still hasen't gotten in yet :(. Shoulda ordered it earlier. Its been a week since I ordered, and it hasn't shipped yet.

I am running it in Linux, as I do not have Windows.

UT2K4 is my God. Along with FFX-2 it takes up pretty much all my time at the moment.

Personally I just uninstalled the demo before I unstalled the game, haven't noticed any bugs other than my poor processor being so terribly WEAK. :(

Honestly, I didn't care for it overly much. It's too frantic for my tastes, though Bombing Run is still very cool. I prefer original UT, but generally I'll be playing Desert Combat mod for BF1942.

And again, I must take offense at the assertion that one must be a fan of FPSes to be a true gamer. ... well, not that much offense. :)

However, any true gamer must at least appreciate Tetris. :P (the greatest game ever programmed! A truimph of gameplay over all else, an a surprisingly apt metaphor for life.)

That's twice the framerate of cinema film. Don't complain about things you can't see.

I just played it today at a friend's house.

The Leviathan is just... Amazing.
Plus the Manta is simply fun. Boost off a hill, then sink down really fast onto someone.
Squelch. Mwaha.

I still think it could do with Halo's driving system.

Yep, same for me. But first I need a computer that doesn't lag in singleplayer. :(

Bleh, been getting worse lately. Varies between 15 and 30 mostly. 40-50 might have been an exaduration. Yeah I was being picky when complaing about 40-50. Sorry.

bah it just your 'puter not windows. i'm running it on an xp machine with a 2.6 celeron with a 9600 xt and consistantly getting frame rates in excess of 60 fps.

my only beef with the game is the lack of gamepad support. i mean, good grief this is a brand new game! wtf!?! not especially thrilled with the flyong/floating vehecle controls (halo style controls would definitely have been nice) but thats just a minor grumble.

You can't see the difference between 24fps and 50fps?

Not really, no. Certainly not between 30 and 50.

For everyone who wants HALO vehicle style controls: What the fuck are you smoking?

Being able to look around without turning is practically REQUIRED. I find myself trying to do so a lot by accident when playing HALO, and then finding myself having to compensate for screwing up my driving line.

On a related note, ONSLAUGHT is hands down the greatest online FPS mode ever created.

If Tribes: Vengeance has Tribes Classic physics (or at least Tribes 2 "Classic" physics) and Onslaught it'll be a perfect game.
