I enjoyed Punisher.
However, I think the scene with The Russian was an unnessecary attempt at comic relief, whose tone really didn't fit in with the rest of movie.

That, and its tragic he spent so much work on the GTO and they don't use it at all! It just gets trashed by the coolest of the assassins ... (speaking of which, the "In Time" scene was great... 'I wrote it for you. I'm gonna play it at your funeral.'
I enjoyed Punisher, and hope it makes enough money that they'll make another.

i think it is by far the best marvel movie to date, and is definately up there in my top 5 movies of all time. it was, in 2 words, DAMN good.
and yea, the russian part wasnt neccessary, but it wasnt just comic relief. it showed that he wasnt some badass who could over-power everyone. it also showed that he was by no means perfect.

Yeah, but that woulda been a much better made point is it wasn't done by some near-unstoppable wall of meat.and yea, the russian part wasnt neccessary, but it wasnt just comic relief. it showed that he wasnt some badass who could over-power everyone. it also showed that he was by no means perfect.

I'll agree about the part with the russian. It did however make me giggle like a school girl when that scene was played out. I liked the movie overall and would have no qualms about seeing a sequel. But as for "Was it as good as Spiderman?" You really can't compare the two movies. The movies feature two VERY different characters. The Punisher is most definitely an anti-hero, you can sympathize with him because of his circumstances, however that doesn't make him a "good guy." He's just the "Guy You Want to Win." Which doesn't detract from him, don't get me wrong, just puts him in another class of characters. Kinda like Mel Gibson in Payback, or Spawn. In a world of bad guys, you go for the guy that has the moral code closer to your own.
Spiderman, was a "Good Guy." He was you average geek who is miraculously endowed with super-human abilities, and after a tragic event, he chooses to use those abilities in a manner that is beneficial to the city. He does not kill, although Norman Osborne really killed himself.
I don't know if I'm explaining this properly, but I leave the subject open to debate.

Rembrandt Q. Einstein, you forget - every dead body's flesh decomposes, leaving a grinning skull.
