Did you ever see the Day of the Dead remake? It borrowed too much from 28 Days Later and barely anything from the damned movie it was suppose to be a remake of.bagheadinc wrote:I actually enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead remake, but a) it wasn't better than the original, and b) it wasn't a remake, it was a whole new movie; it just kept the name and the idea of zombies in a mall.

Re: Movies you must see
Interstate 60 is a movie that, from what I've read, has gotten rather mediocre reviews. A few have have loved it, others hated it, and many have shoved it in the middle somewhere. I fall into that first group. I honestly consider it to be one of the most fun movies I've ever watched.
With a cast of reasonably well known actors led by James Marsden and Gary Oldman, this movie starts with James Marsden's character, Neal Oliver, coming to a crossroad in his life, trying to decide whether he should pursue his art or take the option to become a lawyer. Searching for an answer, things become a bit surreal when he makes a wish on his birthday for an answer. Such a wish intrigues O.W. Grant (Gary Oldman), who then grants the wish. This sets up a string of events which results in Neal traveling along the nonexistent Interstate 60, a place for people and places that don't fit into the real world.
The story itself is nothing spectacular. It's more the wonderful characters and situations that come up which makes it fun to watch. In particular, we meet O.W. Grant, who admits that he lives pretty much to fuck with people, punishing bad choices and playing mind games with people in general. There's also the former advertising exec turned honesty evangelist, a town made up almost entirely of lawyers, a girl roaming the highway looking for the "perfect fuck", and a string of other odd characters and places.
The movie tries to come across as sort of coming of age movie with a quirky twist. I would say that on the coming of age part it's mediocre, but the constant twists that the movie offers makes for a very entertaining movie.

Hook, while I appreciate your audacity to mention that painful excuse for a film, WHY on earth would you recommend Street Fighter as a movie that is "Must See" as the thread title implies?

Re: Movies you must see
Recently rented "The Book of Eli" and loved it. I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic epics. And this one is great. Granted, take that for what it's worth. I also really enjoyed Waterwold and The Postman.
Anyway, don't be frightened by the whole "Bible" portion of the movie. It's really not that big of a deal. Oh sorry, if you didn't figure out the book was "The Bible" even without seeing it, you have issue. It's not about the bible anyway. It's just a text, and the alternative would have been to invent a new mythos. Anyway, the twist at the end was fantastic. I watched the movie again immediately.

My sig would have contained the secret of life, but I'd already clicked submit.
