Capital Punisment?

Post by Lil' Chris » Thu Apr 22, 2004 10:17 pm

Sorry if this has been done before.

Do people here belive in Capital Punishment or not?

Personally I think that we should executed murderers. I think that if they kill a human being then they too should die. Alot of people would say that it is wrong and that we should take a human's life away, but isn't that what they did to their victim(s).

Any thoughts? You know what to do...

Revenge is one of the most basically childish emotions, and juvinile motivations. The 'he did it so he should have it done to him' argument is generally based upon an immature revenge-mindset which should be given no place in the law, certainly not in criminal law.

I'm not necessarily against (or for) capital punishment, but I do not believe that 'it is only fair' is a valid argument for it.

Capital Punishment is too easy.

People who make others suffer need to understand how that feels. I think it's really the only way someone can be 'cured'. Otherwise, they (criminals) won't learn anything.

Well it depends on the circumstance. For example, I think that repeat offenders (murderers and rapists) should be put to death. But first we should try rehabilitation. So that would make capitol punishment a last resort.

I believe more in corporal punishment. Beat sense into them with a big stick.

No, I don't believe in it. Nor do I believe in the Easter Bunny. They are both figments of Jackie Kennedey's imagination.

I believe more in corporal punishment.

I disagree. Whenever the corporals get punished, the privates get punished by the corporals. At least wait until I get promoted.

I don't know WHAT we should do with murderers. I'm not even sure if I believe there really are murderers. I can't even grasp the concept of killing another person and not WANTING to die afterwards.

Not only do I think capital punishment is great, I think that it is currently:

1. too nice

2. under-used

I say we bring back the amazing spectacle that is public executions! Hanging! Guillotine! Free shows for all to see! Fun for all ages! And while we're at it, let's revive corporal punishment, too. Nothing to horrendous, just some good old-fashioned public whipping. That'll set some folks straight, oh yes. You'll think twice about commiting a crime when the punishment is pain, instead of a boring but relatively not-painful jail sentence. Oh, yeah. Killin' people and causin' pain. That's the stuff.
In the end though, it's really the bees that get Sam.

What if you're into that, though?

Society as a whole has deemed those punishments improper, and therefore they violate the provision barring cruel and unusual punishments. There are some classics which I support -- chain gangs, for one -- but those do throw up a bit of a cry.

Of the capital punishments we have now -- electrocution, hanging, firing squad, gas chamber, and lethal injection -- hanging and lethal injection offer the least painful ways of going (a proper hanging snaps the neck and causes instant death). Firing squads can be quick (death comes in seconds), but gas (cyanide gas that suffocates you while you can still breathe) and electrocution can take some time. My personal preference is firing squad, but I seem to be on the other end from most people.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

The way I see it, if I had a choice of either spending millions of tax dollars keeping a child molester fed and clothed, or taking him out back and putting a bullet in his head, I'm picking the bullet. (At least until we can find a way to start dumping them in Australia again.) He's proven himself to be an evolutionary defect, and forfeited his right to live.

But as far as executions go, I'm a big fan of the frying pan/19 inch television method.

I totally agree with Billyblaze.

There are people out there who have done nothing wrong and are living in the streets and starving, yet if they murdered people they go to prison and get fed?

Where's the justice?

There is none because there are a bunch of people who believe that because we are human we deserve a certain quality life. They do nothing to deserve it yet we feel they do for no reason. I say ethier way it is better to kill or just let die on thier own in isolation than to feed them.

But there are people who should be killed first before murderers. Drug dealers. The amount of drugs sold to new customers by a dealer is a worse affect on society than any non-mass murderer. And I believe we release these people back on the street eventually. Majorly messed up.

Personally, if I had murdered a shit load of people, I'd prefer to be killed than remain in prison for the rest of my life
