Even though the person may be mentally incompetent, if that person repeatedly escapes and murders people, something must be done for the society... sad as it may be.

Once a person is gone, you cannot bring them back.
If they are found to be innocent, or if they are, for whatever reason, needed, you cannot get them back.


Though admittedly it may stop some hijackings etc. which are done to get some person out of jail.
