Invention

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Invention

Post by KingInYellow » Mon May 03, 2004 11:08 am

"I don't think necessity is the mother of invention - invention, in my opinion, arises directly from idleness, possibly also from laziness. To save oneself trouble." - Agatha Christie

"I don't mind occasionally having to reinvent a wheel; I don't even mind using someone's reinvented wheel occasionally. But it helps a lot if it is symmetric, contains no fewer than ten sides, and has the axle centered. I do tire of trapezoidal wheels with offset axles." - Joseph Newcomer

"An inventor is simply a fellow who doesn't take his education too seriously." - Charles F. Kettering

Too much free time on your hands, Greg? : P
"The room was empty of furnishment, save for a five-pillared seat rising so far aloft without stairs or other means of approach, that it seemed only a winged being could ever attain thereto. But on the seat was a figure shrouded with thick, sable darkness, and having over it's head and features a caul of grisly shadow." - Clark Ashton Smith. "The Seven Geases."

"Cthulhu saves! After all... he might get hungry later..."

I've always been one for inventions, and I've got to give Greg an 'A' for effort on this one, but it seems to me that if such an invention were made, it would definitely have to come with a warning label:

"Keep away from those who aren't morning people!"

Now I don't mean to sound like a complete imbecile, (although that may be inevitable) but I once put styling gel on my toothbrush and came very close to putting toothpaste in my hair, an they're two separate bottles! Sheesh!

About this comic... Anyone else notice that Daves' watch appears out of nowhere?

A watch from the future, eh?
One that phases in and out as needed!
Maybe Greg should patent that idea when he gets to the patent office. :P
Wait! Maybe he does! Maybe Dave got that watch from Future Greg when they visited him in the future!
Wow! Will the world ever know?

I though of the same thing a few years ago after I put soap on my toothbrush the 11th time or so.

Obviously there were two takes for this comic. In the second one, which only filmed the last panel, Dave had just ran out after getting his tenth Swedish massage of the day, and forgot to take off his brand-new million dollar watch. Using MAD IMPROV SKILLZ, he simply added this new prop into the punchline.

If the watch was from the future would it still be set to the right time?
I'll put something here eventually...

Maybe it was from SO far into the future that it was actually from the same time! :shifty:
