Spoilers tags

Post by StruckingFuggle » Wed May 05, 2004 4:07 am

I did a search for "spoiler'', and there wasn't anything in this folder, so I guess it hasn't been brought up.

I've seen 'em somewhere, though. I think, especially with the media and game forums, we need somesort of spoiler tags in BB code that changes the color the text inside it to the background color, so you have to highlight it to read the spoiler part of the post.
"He who lives by the sword dies by my arrow."

"In your histories, there are continual justifications for all manner of hellish actions. Claims of nobility and heritage and honor to cover up every bit of genocide, assassination, and massacre. At least the Horde is honest in their naked lust for power."

Yeah. Our threads need to be more aerodynamic. We need spoiler codes.

That's a decent point, Zenny, and it's actually easier to do from a posting standpoint, but it's a pain in the ass to enlarge it to read. Granted, it's easy, but far more distracting than highlighting the text.

I keep notepad open & copy/paste posts there. Not too inconvenient.

/me smacks glue.
/me gets stuck.

Damn.

Sounds like a good idea, but what about those posts that are all BBCode or something? Edit: this would have been amusing if phpBB ever fixed the bug where entities aren't escaped when quoted or edited.

TINY TEXT BAD.
Here I am, to sing you a song. And there you are, asleep against the windowpane, just like always.

Oversized text can be bad too, especially if the poster just goes on and on and on in it and takes up way too much vertical space. Tiny text can be a very good thing. Unless you actually cared what the person said.

Spoiler tags were originally supposed to be one of the hacks installed on this forum, but something went loopy and they either messed something up, or were just too difficult to implement with all the other hacks we have on here.

That's why we don't have them.

They're a bit more difficult to implement. We don't have the normal BBCode implementation here.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.
