w00t, I found a copy of Wind Waker for $30. Not to bad.
I don't know if I got your idea right Il Palazzo Sama, are you saying you'd like to do the dungens in any order, and the difficulty is based on how far you've gotten? Because that's a good idea.
And the mutliplayer idea would be awsome, but unfortunatly Nintendo would probably point us to SSB:Melee for our Link on Link action....err fighting action...

Would have been nice if we could have seen more of this at E3 than just the video of it on the big screen. No kiosk, no nothing. Also, nobody seems to have noted this yet... but the name of the game is "The Legend of Zelda". That's it. No secondary title at all. Anyone care to guess what this means?
Also, about the S-E bashing, totally unjustified. Don't listen to that shit gabe and tycho are spewing about FFXII, once you actually get your hands on this damned game, you can't help but be impressed. It looks beautiful, it plays wonderfully, and the battle system was actually the most welcome part of it for me. I've always hated random battles... they remove you from the story of the game. If the city is being attacked, and someone shouts "Oh no! Here they come!" then you suddenly see a white flash, and you're fighting 3 dudes in armor or some shit, that's not exactly an invasion. Now, if all of a sudden you see a hundred dudes making their way into the town, that's a bit more impressive. That's realism. That's storytelling. Cliff and I both couldn't help but be impressed at how the game played. It's awesome.

Yeah - I rather like the combat system in Final Fantasy XI. There's no reason why it can't work solo.
The other thing I always hated about random battles is that there was no way to avoid them. I really hated it when you decided that you were done for that day and wanted to leave the general area. While most of the games allowed you to run away, it would be nicer if you could just actively avoid enemies. Having them already on screen allows you to simply attempt to avoid conflict all together without having to say "run away" every 10 seconds. It also skips the 10 seconds of transition to and from the field screen, which is the real nusiance.
Plus, it allows you to pick and choose your battles. There were some areas where you'd want to avoid certain enemies because they were annoying (or were only hunting certain enemies - like Tonberrys in FFX, those buggers were rare). The other battles where just pointless.
The only issue I can see with the new combat system is that it's going to feel mighty lonely entering an area for the first time with only your party without having the random level 50 guy casting cures on people.

Greg : The new Zelda game won't get a secondary title for a while. The Wind Waker only got it's title about 2 or 3 months before it came out. And yes, I was rather frightend that FF12 could be crappy after reading PA, but if you say it's good, then I'll go with that

Don't get me wrong, I still am a fan of Square, it's just, they havent been making the same quality games as they used to.

The only FF that I really didn't like was X. I mean, I don't see anything wrong with VIII besides the junction system (which isn't really that big of a problem) and I loved IX. And dare I say it, X-2 was damn good if you skip the cut-scenes. Of course FFXI is awsome, but I don't have that kind of time (or money) to waste. Is there anywhere where I can return it?
How exactly does the battle system work in FFXII? Can you control all 3 characters or just the main character? I know you order your fellow team mates around, but can you switch who the one you control is? Because it sounds a lot like .hack's battle system, and that got old fast.

The story was nice, but the voice acting was horribly annoying. Well not all of it, just mainly Tidus, Yuna, Wakka sometimes, and that one blue thing. I forget his name...
In comparison X-2 hardly annoyed me by the voice acting. I think the voice of Yuna got way better (I'm pretty sure it's the same person) so she doesn't annoy me at all really.
Only one character bothered me in X-2 and that was one of the guys that flew your airship. I think his name was Brother? God damn what was up with that. The weirdest animations I've ever seen in my life.

Final Fantasy 9 was way too short. The main character looked like the drunken love child of David Bowie and Michal Jackson's pet monkey Bubbles. The game was WAY too short, and the story was uninspired. I havent played 10 and X-not-to-be-confused-with-XII-2 but the people I know that have played it have not had good things to say about it and I trust their judgement.
As far as I'm concerned XII is guilty until proven innocent.

I heard X-2 was freakishly easy
