Fry's

Post by Qunix » Wed May 12, 2004 11:29 pm

Question for all of you that are in an area where you have access to shop at Fry's. Do you find that when you enter Fry's it is pretty busy, or do you often go in and find the sales people standing around doing nothing. Do you find it different at different times, etc. The reason I ask is that one is opening finally over here in IL, first one in Midwest, I've applied for sales there, and while I'm sure it will be busy when it first opens, I want to have an idea of what it's like when the "newness" fad calms down.

Thanks!

Around here it's usually quite busy when I'm there. I've not heard it's a spectacular place to work for though. Worth a shot though, can always quit :P

The ones around me are usually always busy... I think I've been there maybe a grand total of 3 times when it hasn't been crazy, but those were unusual times.

What have you heard about working there? Why isn't it a great place?

It tends to be busy when I go, though I've never seen it really hectic.

You gotta watch out for people like me though who change screen savers to "All your base are belong to us" :)
(and yes, I had thinking about doing that before I read the RLC about it.)

I'ts opening in Oak Brook, right at the Butterfield exit off of 88/355. It should be opening in the next month or two, that's all they know, they have no date set.

well from what i heard from a friend that worked there is that it is not the nicest place to work. Form what i got from my friend, the manegment is forcefull, wants you to work extra hours, and is basicly a huge bussness looking to make the best proffet. I also live 30min out of seattle WA wether or not that changes anything i dont know. And from what i have seen the sales people are not standing around to much, yes thay have a lot of them there, but there always tends to be some one that you can help.

p.s. i had no clue what fry's was untill i had read this comic, and the one was build.

Only been to fry's once since the closest one is a city away. (In Austin, I live in San Antonio). Was pretty busy when I went there, which was around 2pm on a Saturday.

I had a friends that worked at a Fry's in Dallas. He said that is sucked because they treat their employees like "shit".

Well I got hired there now, so let's hope I'm taking a step in the right direction and hope that they won't treat me like shit. When we open, look for Dan in the components department (motherboards, hard drives, chips, etc) :).

Actually I applied to work there (the same store/location). I have an interview tomorrow at 11:00 AM.

So far all I've heard is negative feedback regarding how they treat there employees. Are there any other opinions out there? Should I work at Wendy's instead where I definitely have a job?

I dunno, I'm gonna give it a shot. I figure as long as you do your job and don't mess around you should be alright. When I had my interview with the Asst. Store Manager he seemed pretty real, he told me up front realistic numbers and all sorts of other things, while one of the other guys I first talked to was giving me unrealistic numbers. We'll see what happens, good luck on your interview. What are you applying for?

all i can say is that if you want a job, frys will work. but if you want a job that you can have a little fun in, make good money, and be respected as a worker, dont try frys.
