Moving out?
Moved out when I was almost 19, after a year of college. Came here to Calgary (about 8 hours away from my home town) with my manic depressive girlfriend-at-the-time. Lots of things happened between, but I've yet to live entirely on my own, and enjoy having either a good friend or a girlfriend to live with. Supporting yourself, though, despite being stressful and difficult at times, is a most excellent thing. No parents imposing arbitrary rules on you, no feeling of dependance or living on another's sufferance. You can finally start to be yourself and live how you want to live, within your means.
I am 21 now, 22 in September, incidentally. My parents were very supportive of my decision to move out on my own, but it was my decision and I think they were pretty sad to see me go. Even though I have amazing parents (imho), I could never stand to live back at home for more than a couple months at a time, and even that would be pushing it. I'm far too independant, I suppose.

I'm 22 and haven't moved out yet. It's not financially viable to move out around here. A house is 10-20 years salary around here and even sharing to rent it's a good half to thee quarters of my monthly wage. So I live at home. I don't mind. I have cable internet and a PC and a room and food! I just have to pay for some stuff.
Sloth: Am I a year behind already?

February was some lyrics or quotes month or something. I don't even remember what year all this was.

Re: Moving out?
Moved out when I was 18. Moved with my parents back from CA to TX after high-school, parents immediately went to Saudi Arabia just after I started college and I didn't want to go so I moved into my own place. (Didn't have any roommates until I moved to OH.)

aside from serving a mission when I was 20-22, I haven't really been out on my own. My mission was largely financed by my family, and the mission office took care of housing and automobile bills, so all I had to worry about was bike expenses, food, film, and developing, so I could have hundreds of pictures and only one find its way online
Currently, my fiancee and I are working on finding a place for me to move into within the next couple weeks so that I can be all settled when we get married in August, and she can just move in. (extramarital cohabitation=EVIL)
I just need to remember to stick to a budget, instead of blowing all my money on fast food and COOL KLINGON DAGGERS AT THE MALL!!!
Oh, and I'll be 25 as of June 11, 2004 (like this thread'll last that long....)

I live with my father, I most likely will until I graduate from university, unless I go somewhere other than UH when I'm finished with all my basic courses at HCC. I have no reason, personally, to move out, it would just cost me alot more money.

Moved out at 18, got married at 22, divorced, once I get back, I'll have my own place free of roommate/sig. other...completely on my own. I agree with MissCheetah...definitely have a budget and expenses planned out--I already have friends/family looking for furniture/etc. for me and putting it in storage. It will be the first time in a long time that I'm truly 'on my own'--and I really can't wait for that.

I moved out when I was 17 to go to university. When I was 21 I moved from there to Texas to work for a while, then my dad had a crippling car accident and I moved back to help my mom out with their business. It'll be 2 years in october that I've been home and I was driven pretty much insane by the time this past christmas rolled around. Unfortunate financial circumstances are as such: I spent all my savings on another BSc. (by correspondence that I'll be done around thanksgiving) and am currently sitting about $3500 in the hole. I work full time and pay (fairly cheap) rent here. I should be moved back out in September.
It took alot to swallow my pride and move back in with my parents. They make me crazy.
oh yeah, my advice: it doesn't matter WHAT you foolishly spend your money on, KEEP IT- even if if means forking some cash over for a storage locker. I sold alot of my stuff when I moved to Texas and I MISS IT now. And the small amount of money I made off it is gone too.

I did it one time and I liked it
So I did it two times, got addicted
Had to do it three times, couldn't help it
And the number four time was the best

A-HA! I knew there was something ever-so slightly Texan about you.

When I was 18 I was living on my own, but I didn't move out... instead my mom moved to Texas and left the townhome for me... so for the last 12 years (not counting 6 months when I decided to move to Texas while I was looking for work and stayed with my mom) I've been on my own...
Well, by *on my own* I mean not living with a family member (except my daughter)... I've had roommates and am currently living with my fiance.
