And as for the whole carbs thing, I love carbs, can't go without them. Especially since I have low blood sugar. I do try to be moderate in what I eat, though.
You can do it Liz!

Erm, I don't think smoking is the *best* way to lose weight...

To Liz about losing weight
I found out last sunday that the military considers me to be overweight. At my 6'0" height, they weighed me in at 216 vs. my max of 205. Do not worry about shedding pounds fast in the beginning. Most of the weight in your body is water (duh). So anyways, I need to lose 11 lbs in a week or I won't be going to Mississippi this summer for school.
Anyways, that was my motivation right there. First step, take my calorie intake down to the bare minimum to live (or there abouts). This is around 500 calories intake a day. This is for extreme cases only, however for a short period of time will NOT adversley affect the >30 year olds. Second step was to immediately get your matabolism up. This is done through sit ups. Yes, we all hate sit ups, but there is a quick and dirty way of doing them......in bed. This takes alot of strain off the back and neck. Now to loose 10 lbs in 16 hours here is what you do. Go to bed, grab a book, and every 15 minutes start doing your sit ups. Do as many as you can and when it starts really hurting, thats when you can stop. No hands behind your head, put them on your ears, and you don't have to go all the way to your knees. After 8 hours of this stop, and sleep for 8-12 hours. Your body doesn't lose weight while you are awake, the whole process goes on while you sleep, so always weigh yourself in the morning. Your weight will fluctuate during the day (up to a 5lb difference in some cases).
So, now that you've done your situps and decreased your food intake, now what. One of the largest principles behind weight loss, is that when you work the major muscle groups, the minor muscle groups also get a work out. When doing sit ups, you aren't just working your abs, you are working everything in your body. Its a full body movement, and so all parts of your body get worked out to some degree, promoting fat loss from everywhere. The same goes for running, and swimming, arobics, and to some extent biking. Personally, I hate running, bad for the knees. There is no available swimming pool around, so I can't do that.
I like the stationary bike, I can read, watch tv, listen to music or whatever while I'm on it. Doing these things allows me to not focus on pedling the bike, which actually makes the task harder. Reading a book will also make the time go by faster. My average workout on a stationary bike burns 600 caleries an hour, which is more than what I'm taking in during the day. This is also key to losing weight. I think it equals out to using 2000 caleries per lb of fat above what you take in. Thats alot of caleries. The average person uses roughly 1500 caleries per day just moving around and going about their normal lives. Those that ride a bike to work instead of driving, or those to do more walking and moving about use more.
So anyways, my progress. Its been 5 days and I've lost 16 lbs, down to 200 lbs on the nose.
