Terraforming for the digitally inclined.

Post by Skand » Sat Jun 12, 2004 5:54 am

So if i was to look back on to how this section of the Forum was created i could easily look back at one person being the reason. undertow post a image in IRC and i said to myself that would be a fun picture to edit in photoshop, so i saved it and edited it. Then weeks later i said hmmm well maybe it would be cool to see what other people would of done to teh image. So i made a thread witha title called "Hey! Stop editing me". "Hey ...." threads being all the rage at the time. So then the thread picked up a lot of steam and the Dean joined in teh fun and commanded that i run the beast and here we are. And most of the itme i update it (but real life comes first btu i try to update and keep it fresh).

But anyways undertow has done it again, and just as inadvertanly as before he made this thread.

http://www.reallifeforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=5571

which linked to this program

Terragen

Now i can't stop generating new terrain and tweeking old ones.

And neither will you. well maybe you will stop or ignore this entirely or eat a hotdog ... or something like that.

Either way the program is fun and easy to use. The website provides links to many plug ins and faq's.

So here are my first 2 terrains. All done with terragen and a bit of photoshop tinkering to kill some of the hard lines

Emerald-Ilse.jpg

NerusAwakens.jpg

of course if you want to see how it is really one then click on undertows thread .... bloody awe inspiring scenery ^^

(Post Script: The program has both PC and Mac versions)

How much experience do you need to successfully creat a landscape?

Does anyone know where I can host images? I'd like to post some of my landscapes, but imageshack has decided it hates me.
