Chyawanprash - anyone know about it?
My supervisor at work (Who is from India) was telling me about how eating gold and silver is good for you. He talked about this ancient Indian health tonic stuff called Cyawanprash... it has a huge list of ingrediants (Including both gold and silver) which supposedly keep you very healthy in all physical and even some mental aspects (Like concentration, memory, ect)
Now I dunno about eating metal, but maybe a lot of the other ingredients really do help with things like nausia or headaches?
Does anyone know anything about it? Well I want to try it whether or not it actually helps, but could any of these ingrediants actually be bad for some people? If anyone knows, would be nice.

Question: Does it have lead in it? I hear lead, like many other metals, is exceedingly good for you.

Gold helps to prevent arthritis.... at least when it's worn. I hear stuff about injecting it too, I don't know how effective it is.

Ooh, good call Calus, I'll bet it has plenty of Asbestos in it as well.
Man, I can feel myself getting healthy just THINKING about it.

Blaze, the iron and zinc are not in pure element form. They are part of other chemicals that your body is capable of dealing with and using. There is no sinking of iron or zinc in your stomach. The silver used is also usually in a solution, not in element form. No sinking of that either. Heck you can usually swallow dimes or pennies and be fine. Usually they are passed through. The problem is that silver is toxic depending on the quantity intested. Gold...won't really react but can't be good for you to ingest. I figure though that it would be in such trace amounts that it can't do much. It would most certainly NOT build up in your stomach unless you swallowed an ingot of it. Any particles would be passed out along with other foods and digested matter.

heh actually I don't really care about the silver and gold, its the medicine as a whole I am wondering about... the amount of silver/gold is very small and harmless.
Some of the other ingredients:
Saffron
Muktashukti
Abhraka, Svarna Makshika
Brahmi Jyotishmati
Vacha, Jatamansi
Apple Juice
Arjuna
I have no idea what the vast majority of that stuff is.
There is a longer list but I don't have time. I have the label, which I will scan in tomorrow. No time today.
(BTW, gold and silver are not traditionally found in Cyawanprash, it is more of a marketing technique for this specific company, Himani, then anything else I think)
