The trouble with time travel...
There's perfectly logical explanations for why Greg didn't go back in time and just buy a box of the cereal:
- Think he could scrape together a bunch of 15-year-old money? You go back in time and try to pay for a box of cereal with one of today's "monopoly money" bills and they'd look at you like you'd gone crazy...
- It's not the same. If you go back in time and buy a box of cereal and then bring it to present day, the cereal is still the same age as it was when you warped back - only a couple months old. Where's the collectability in that?
Plus, Nintendo cereal really did suck... It was like Cap'n Crunch, but without the flavor... Too many of us have fond memories of things from our childhood that, if examined today, would just fall apart. Go watch reruns of some of the shows you used to watch back then... they're pretty weak, both in premise and content...
Yeah, yeah, I'm an old fuddy-duddy (30 next year... I can't be 30 yet!!!:) )
Just my 2.5 cents (gotta allow for inflation...)

Re: The trouble with time travel...
document - So if you've got enough troubles with your own life, why are you here flaming me instead of out dealing with your own problems?
After the comments on the comic I was just posting my observations and a realist view on history - everything we have "good memories" about, really wasn't that great. But it was great to us, and that is what matters. Sorry to shatter your illusions, but it was going to happen eventually. It's a lesson that is better learned earlier in life than later.
And "grandpa"? I'm assuming you were just trying to get my ire up. Get back to me come late July of 2012 and we'll talk about how you're doing in life and how you're feeling... I'm pretty happy with where I'm at and my age...
Having gotten that out of the way, let the flaming of the new guy who just posted his first topic continue...

Anyway, though I'm only 14, I kinda know what you're talking about. I recently pulled out a Sega game I remembered having a lot of fun with when I first got my Sega, playing it for 2 minutes and then thinking "Wow, this game sucks..."

You know, Mandor, I almost put your name next to Soth, but I decided not to. Hindsight it 20-20, I guess I'll learn from it.

Actually, scraping together enough 15-year old money is easier than you think. Eschewing dollar bills for the moment, remember that they ran up a whole slew of Susan B's in 1976? A box of cereal is only a few bucks... easy to get a few silver dollars and take care of it. However, even though the date on the bills is recent (the bills in my pocket were dated 1999, 2001, and 2003) ones still look like ones. It would be a simple task to pass off a current one dollar bill as one from the past, and nobody would be the wiser. But the Suzan B Anthony dollars are the more legal choice. ^^
And think of it as a cheapass way to get mint-condition collectables. I can see it now... going back in time, buying something at face value, then instantly warping back to your time and selling it for insane amounts of money because it's "like new".
And Nintendo Cereal most certainly did NOT suck! It had the texture of captain crunch, and about the flavor of Trix. That was good stuff.

Why bother buying it? Just pop back in time into your favorite grocery store of the past and pop back into the future! Even if they did notice you steal it then, the statute of limitations for stealing cereal would certainly have expired by now.

(Oh, and happy birthday!)

I wouldn't know - I never had any of it. I guess you'll have to send me a box when you return to the future. And Nintendo Cereal most certainly did NOT suck! It had the texture of captain crunch, and about the flavor of Trix. That was good stuff.
