Anything wrong with that?

If there was a man in my life who would support me and pay our bills I'd MUCH RATHER stay at home and be a mom. I don't think I could stay home without a kid, but if I had a kid, I'd want to spend as much time as possible being a mom. When it got older school would be when I'd do all the housework and that crap. I'd be totally content. I love taking care of things. Houses, gardens, laundry, babies - these things all produce immediate results as well as long term results.

I think it's be FANTASTIC

I did it one time and I liked it
So I did it two times, got addicted
Had to do it three times, couldn't help it
And the number four time was the best

I think you're a loonie.

By the Way, TFH is more than welcome to live in my house and pamper me all day.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it as long as it's a personal choice.

Though I'll admit that I was rather disturbed when I was talking to a girl one time (who ended up ranked 3rd in our class) who was talking about going to college and being a lawyer, but then later said "It doesn't matter much anyway. Once I get married I'm just going to stay home and take care of the kids."

Personally, I couldn't do it. But I'm not planning on getting married or having kids either, so I guess that's a good thing.

The only problem is that you have to be good at it, and what you cook. My brothers idea of cooking is putting a frozen pizza in the oven. Mine is a tray of enchiladas.

It's a sad day when you can outcook both of your parents. It's a sadder day when everyone agree's with you.

I'm very sad.

I could happily be a homemaker if not for the whole 'raising the children' part. I love to play with children, but I hate to watch them all day. It stresses me out so much to always be watching them, entertaining them, preparing food for them, enduring their tantrums. I would rather deal with them while they're all cute and playful, not when they are screaming their heads off because you won't let them play Monopoly and ice cream and mountain dew is not an acceptable bedtime snack.[/quote]

See! I can do that! I actually think a tantrum is funny! I can handle trantrum, i've survived MANY of them by the 1 1/2 year old that doesn't want to go to bed at her bedtime, and she really doesn't like commercials...

Tantrums are easy to deal with. Just ignore them. As long as they know that your desicions are final they wont waste their time because they know they wont get anywhere.

I would kill myself before ever getting stuck at home barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, but it that's what you want to do with your life, more power to you. Male or female.

I can see it now... It'll be just like that Ep from family guy, "I am Peter, hear me roar"

Wife: What are you looking for?

Me: the pregnancy test, I'm late.

Wife: Have you lost your mind?

Me: I'm catholic. I, I thought you'd be happy. *cries*

I don't know about ending up barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen, but it would be nice to not have to work in order to support my family.

I think, though, even if I did marry somebody rich and end up a homemaker, I'd just go out and do a bunch of volunteer work. It would be a lot more fun doing that than going to work because I had to.

I don't the idea of being "barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen" is as bad as people are making it out to be. I mean, be barefooted is relaxing, and the tile feels cool and refreshing against my feet. And being pregnant is, after all, the overall goal of life.

Needless to say, I think a homemaker is a very good thing for everyone, especially the kids. I sure hope that I make enough money to completely support my family so my wife can stay at home, or better yet, vice versa :)

Have you (TFH, but also anyone else) seen Mona Lisa Smile]?
I cheered inside when Julia Stiles' character declared her decision to be a homemaker instead of going to law school.
After my parents divorced, my mom worked as a stained-glass artist. She and her friend built a studio in the backyard, giving her the opportunity to make a living and still be a homemaker. In return, we kids got to help out in the shop whenever we wanted to.
In short: TFH, I am now a Drooling Fanboy for you.

In theory maybe, but I'm sure as hell not planning on it (go ahead with the "You'll change your mind someday" comments, I've heard them before).

What about the single parent who has to work or else the kid(s) will be starving and naked? As much kids needs a parent around, they also need food.

Or people that don't even have kids? (though I realize that you probably weren't including scenarios not involving children with the word "everyone")
