ahhaha stereoscopic RL
ahhaha stereoscopic RL
i've been reading this webcomic backwards this past week, and i finally reached strip 1 earlier today.
just now i was reading some random strips over and while staring thru the monitor screen(damn sleepy man...) i realised that this strip is actually stereoscopic. i don't know if the author actually did this on purpose, but the characters on the right hand side panels are a bit off compared to left hand side panels; lookie at the sofa and lamp in the backdrop.
haha nothing like pointing out some trivial detail in a first post

Okay, dude. Seriously. Are you still using a 15 inch monitor or what?
I tried doing it with my 19 inch monitor, and I know have a headache that would knock out a balrog...
The images are just too far apart to stereo properly...

My sig would have contained the secret of life, but I'd already clicked submit.

Um, that one isn't really Stereoscopic.. that's just a difference in the placement of the characters. The problem is, half of it is proper by crossing your eyes, and the other half is proper by reverse-crossing your eyes (though this is much more difficult). It's not TRUE stereoscopic.
This comic, however, is.
And it uses the regular eye-cross.

well it's like this. humans have stereoscopic sight. we have two eyes, right? image from the left eye is taken from a different position than image from the right. when these 2 images are merged in your brain, you get 3d.
so in theory, you take 2 photos of an object, the second one taken from position a bit to the right of the first one, while still focusing on the same object. then you make it so your left eye only focuses on the first photo, and your right eye on the 2nd, the image of the object will become 3d.
bleh i suck at explaining things.
so anyway if you do the cross eye technique to that strip greg mentioned, it'll become 3d; the table will appear to be much closer to you, and then liz, and then the wall, and then the mountains would look so far away.

For those of you who can't see the 3d-ness of the comic... Earthquake Vision!!!! (this will work even if you only have one good eye)
