Ok, i went out on a limb today and decided to go to that arcade i mentioned, i walk in and there were a few kids there but the place wasn't packed, the games layout were as follows:
in the front were the really old machines, i'm talking skee toss (where you roll a ball up a ramp to a target) the crane machine and a bunch of little kiddie rides that you'd find scattered in malls, pop in a quarter and it shakes and bounces around for about a minute.
Im the main game area on the left you got a couple sports related machines, a golf game, bass fishing, there's also a helicopter simulator and a bubble bobble game (shoot the bubbles and match colors)
on the right is the fighting and racing games, though i would call 8 machines being strictly Daytona USA as much of a selection though the fighting games were a tad more diverse with tekken 3, XMen vs Street Fighter, a spiderman arcade game and a few others there was an overhead shooter called Strike 1942 which eventhough the name suggests a WWII theme, i wouldn't call useing planes that shoot lasers, can get powerups that gives little satalite fighters and going up against tanks that transform into hulking mechs historically accurate but i ended up spending about $3 in quarters on it:)
now along the back there were a couple shooting games where you used a light gun (like duck hunt for the NES) virtua cop was one and there was another called area 51, there was also a couple machines similar to the kiddie rides at the front but they were more interactive, had screens and the goal was basically collect as many items as you can before you get to the end of the course.
there were pinball machines in back too but there were some questionable choices, there was a generic table and a starwars table which isn't too bad, but then there was a Demolition Man table (that must have been some movie to spawn pinball machine hehe) now the questionable tables, now i'd think a Playboy and southpark pinball table would be better suited for this D&B place but they're here, now i made the mistake of popping $.50 into the southpark machine thinking it couldn't be that bad if it's in a place with kids, wrong....i'm hearing "suck my BEEP!" and "I'm Not GAY" several "ass"es and "aww c'mon, i just gave you sweet lovin 5 minutes ago!" not to mention various farts and gags, mind you i managed to get a couple free plays on the machine but still i was expecting some parent to come up and ask me to stop playing cus they didn't want their kids to hear it.
now the center of the room held the air hockey, foosball and pool tables but there were also 2 game machines to be found, one of them was another shooting game pretty interactive too, you held a gun but instead of just shooting at whatever pops up before they shot you you could also duck out of the way, the machine actually senses your movement and the viewon the screen reacts accordingly. and then there was the DDR machine, DDR Max 2 to be exact, i think it was in use a couple times while i was there but i never really watched, nor got up the courage to actually try it myself, i guess i'd have to see people closer to my age playing it before i'd even consider joining in.
thats about it, spent 40 minutes in there, and spent about $5 total, the most expensive 1 time play was $1 and that was to play 3 holes of that golf game, 18 holes would have been $5 and i think the only odd look i got was from the consession person (who i'm guessing was probably in his senior year of high school at most) when i asked him to break a $10 but again there weren't many people/kids in there at the time.
