Vegemite is an acquired taste. It's like drinking coffee black, some like it, others hate it. Personally, I like Vegemite.

Which is why I use marmite instead. Marmite just smells so good to.

i'm Aussie, but i personally can't stand vegemite- well not anymore anyway.

When i was a kid i used to have it on Saladas, or (no joke) in a sandwhich with lettuce & cheese. My dad actually mixes it with jam, but then again i'm pretty sure his taste buds were killed many, many moons ago.

Experiment, it's fun.

btw- the reasons i don't like vegemite anymore? i was dared to eat one of the medium size jars in one sitting (without anything else with it i.e. bread)- i did but now i can't stand the taste.

Hey Smaointe, do you have any other good ways to eat VEGEMITE, besides on toast or plain? I tried it on a bagle with cream cheese and it tasted great on that..

Vegemite and chesse sandwiches, with LOTS of butter mixed with the vegemite, tastes ohhh-so good .. or sometimes when I'm lazy I just spread some vegemite onto a slice of cheddar cheese. Mmmm..

(My mum likes to spread some vegemite on toast and then dip it in tea before eating it. I would never do that though. It's disgusting.)

LOL Emma didn't force me or Nick to try the Vegemite, so I honestly don't know. I might try it one day...but...from what I've heard here it's a love it or hate it thing...so maybe not.

Heehee... I made Vek promise to eat a whole spoonful when I first sent the Shanty a big parcel of Aussie presenty goodness. The silly thing, he turned such a strange colour, then drank about a litre of water.

mikehendo: You could mix it with boiling water and make a vegemite drink

My personal favourite is on toasted english muffins, with nice melty butter. YUM!
