A Rant, A Rave, and a Soda
I watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics yesterday night, or, half of it anyways. It's so good to see the Olympics finally go home, the Greeks gave us the Olympics, I really think they have a right to it. It was also heartwarming to see the Iraqi Olympic Team enter, the crowd there just went wild for them. They can now compete for the love of the game, not out of fear for their lives. They are free men, and women, in a gathering of sports, and apparently the Greek people love that. I always hear how unpopular and wrong this war in Iraq is, I think yesterday night alone was vindication for us. Afghanistan was also there, and they also had women on their team. Once again, that freedom courtesey the USA. We're not even asking for any free oil out of the deal! I got me to thinking of how much the world likes to bitch about us, which I find very funny, because when things go slightly wrong, who's the first people the world calls, that's right, not the UN, not the EU, but the USA. Help! Help! Our neighbor nation is invading us! What nation parks a carrier or two off the offending nation's coastline? Hey! We had a revolution, we need a government! That's right, call the Americans over, we'll use their help in setting up a good government. Even in athletics, they call America first. I saw some famous American basketball coach marching in Imperial Red with the rest of China in the Parade of Nations. I saw many Americans in all sorts of different nations in that parade. The funny part is, we do this all for the world, and then the world bitches about us. I guess it's just fun to hate us isn't it?

(Note: I will be ignoring mandor's post because the combination of his post's wording and his avater scare me...)
I agree with you TDINTBL, what I don't think the rest of the world gets is that we have all these pretty weapons that we could use to take over their contry if we were bad people...so why don't we? Because we're not bad people...honestly though if we wanted to we could probably take over half the world, but instead what do we do? We liberate the iraquis and what does the world do? They get mad at us...makes no sense honestly...The nation with a ton of cash and weapons goes in and does something nice for another nation, using it's cash and weapons to help out people who can't help themselves, and what do all the other nations do? Complain...

What's with all the ignorant newbies these days?
TDINTBL... if you're trying to do a humorous parody of a right-wing lunatic, I congratulate you. However, given your previous posts, I find it to be far more likely that you are a right wing lunatic, as I've said in the past. Your attitude of 'America is the best thing that ever happened to the world; we're so good and shiny and helpful; everyone should bend over and take it because we're the best so there!" is reminiscent of a six year old in first grade, bragging about how his parents are better than all the other kids' parents, without realizing that the primary reason he believes that is because he was raised to be ignorant to anything except the bullshit his parents fed him.
I'd debate you point by point, but this is in the rants section not PACE.

Naw, I'm not trying to start a debate here. These are just things that come to me. I am really happy to see a free Iraq and a free Afghanistan, and I don't see how them being free is a bad thing.
Watching the Olympics still, and of course, rooting for the American atheletes. We seem to be doing pretty good. I don't know much about sports, or the atheletes, or anything. I don't even really care for sports. Still, I love the Olympics, there is nothing wrong with them. People from around the world and get together to compete fairly and honestly. There is nothing more honest in this world that sweat and hard work. These people from around their world pour their souls out, and exhaust every last fiber in the body in a very large international celebration of... peace. If there is every truly a hope for world peace, it is things like the Olympics. There is nothing partasian or nationalistic about the Olympics. No matter where you come from, you all run or swim the exact same way. They are all humans, they compete, there is peace. I'd love to say music will could be the source of peace, because I love music. However it can not be, no matter what, music will always have divisions. Different ethnicities have different sounds, different styles of music that don't appeal to all. Athletics are different, there is no dividing line in how things are done from nation to nation. It is one. It is peace.

Judging from examples of his grammar in some of his less intelligible rants, that might not be too far off.is reminiscent of a six year old in first grade
And steroids. Those are honest, too.People from around the world and get together to compete fairly and honestly. There is nothing more honest in this world that sweat and hard work.
For somebody so incredibly proud of the US military operations, you seem pretty into this whole peace idea, too. Make up your mind. Are you a starry eyed "WORLD PEACE" fourth grade girl, or are you a completely insane right wing mental case?It is peace.

Why does it always have to be either or? I'm not looking for a flame war here. This thread is...
A Rant: becuase somethings irritate me, and I feel inclined to rant about them...
A Rave: because the Olympics are on, and I feel that there is something sacred about the Olympics. There is nothing else quite like it in the history of the world. It is special.
And a Soda: because I happened to be drinking a soda at the time I was watching the Olypmic opening ceremony.
Speaking of which, I liked their opening ceremony, it was damned creative. That guy on the cube sure had to practice alot to not slip off of it (yes I know he was held by a cable, but still, he can lose footing). The Parade of Nations was good for a while. After a while though it just loses interest, you can only watch so many nations go by w/o getting bored. Dang, speaking of which, 220 some nations now? I have an atlas that isn't all that old (less than 10) and it only has 191. There were some nations I haven't even heard of before there. And what is with Africa? All their nations either change names by the day, or are almost the same as another nation's. You have Zaire which became Democratic Republic of the Congo, not to be confused with the Congo, and such things like that. It really makes my head swim sometimes. My only other complaint is with freaking NBC. We get 1 minute of the nations, followed by 2 minutes of commercials. Get back, they show you 2 second clips of who you missed on commercial break, and then they go right back to commercial break! It was damned annoying.
Looking forward to seeing the men's swimming finals or whatever is the official title. I hear that Phelps and the other American guy (can't remember the name right now) took 1st and 2nd respectively, and that Phelps broke a world record. I've got to see this.

Another fucktard of an american thinking America is great.
Hmm, America proud of its ability to kill most the planet, after all their speeches etc about world peace and joing the world together.
If you had "tons of cash" why don't you go and help the millions/billions of people starving and dying in africa and other 3rd world countries, or was the chance to show that you killed kill people more important?
You disgust me, and this is my I hate most of the american population. They're all fuckheads.
(And Britain took over more than half of the world once, so, we're better.)
EDIT: Last sentance was a fucking joke, a JOKE!

....Right, because that TOTALLY proved that you're SO much better than the average American. Way to go. You make me proud to be from another fucking country.
And as for the original post in this thread: You, dear sir, are one of the reasons I am burrowing my way into Canada right now.

We did, however, leave its major historical and religious sites and artifacts open as fodder for looters.
That's pretty bad too.
