fish tank

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Of course! Like cats! *throws a cat around by the tail*

Nah, I know ya weren't. I'm still debating whether I want to go to the effort or not, but in the end, part of what makes keeping an aquarium so fun is pure aesthetics. And damned if saltwater fish and tanks aren't awesome to look at. I just hope I don't bite off more than I can chew.
That's a great selection of fish. All it needs is a Betta :)
I just hope the Betta doesn't tear into the other fish.

A 10 gallon tank for all that fish? Eeps. Tetras get large... be sure to get a larger tank!

Oh... and don't put hot water into the fish tank just because you think they're cold. I know someone who did that and killed all their fish. x.x
If I'm posting, then that probably means I'm naked cause I just got out of the shower. ^_~

A: Bettas are NON-Aggressive except to other Bettas or if something attacks them. Kept one for years.

A: Umm.... What planet did you get your Tetras from? They start life small, and end life small. Even the largest are about the size of a pinky finger.

Yep, Bettas are actually pretty docile and get along with most fresh water fish if I remember correct. There ARE a few they don't get along with, but I'm pretty sure none of them are the kind Greg has. And they're SO pretty, why wouldn't you want one? :)

My dad is a much bigger fishfreak than all your dads put together. The room you see used to be our garage.

Also, thats an old image. He's got *more* now. 46 fishtanks full of fish with automatic waterchanges, pH balancing and feeding.

Greg: Once you start down <s>the dark path</s> fish path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
blargh - /blarg/, n. - The opposite of ping. An exclamation indicating that one has absorbed or is emitting a quantum of unhappiness. Less common than ping.

Usually they only go after fish that resemble bettas - mostly fish with long flowing tails as they have. If a male betta sees another fish with a tail like his, he might think it's another male betta and go after it. But that's pretty rare.

I placed a betta in a 29 gal long w/2 gouramis(blue, and dwarf) 5 lepoard danios(long flowing fins) a golden barb and a chinese alge eatter. the tank is set up w/fine gravel(almost like sand) some large river stones, a 'mangrove stump' some fake assorted plants and a couple of rocks stacke dto create small alcoves/caves. the betta harrassed only one fish in that tank,an dhis displayed his agressiv ebehavior when he felt the dwarf gourami was in his territory(a group of plants in the corner) the classic flared gill behavior, the gourami took to staying around the mangrove stump, untill the betta decided that a plant on that side of the tank was his, this switching of territory would occur every time the dwarf took to hanging out on another side of the tank.
on a side note i'm thinking of doing a small gulf tank with the local gulf of mexico sea robin examples1
i haven't found much on tank keeping them, althoug hhtere are some sites that speak of some of the smaller more colorful varieties, they are hardy, eat-it-all who'll take almost any inverterbrate. Here we call them croakers, they are in the drum family an dproduce a deep booming sound whne mating/distressed and so forth, the have adapted fins to crawl the sea bed in search of food, and spread their adapted wing like fins when swimming,an extremelly active swimmer for a bottom feeder, and fairly docile, I'm thinking of doing one,two at the most in a 30 gallon I'm no longer using and buy a h.o.t magnum canister for a 70 gallon so the water purity is assuerdlly so,I know what sort of flooring is needed(just look out in the gulf) but i am not sure of what else to do for such a venture.

I'm not sure which is worse: Watching one of your fish eat another in the tank, or simply notice over a span of days how you seem to keep 'losing' fish. :)

I got a bonus at work and had always wanted a tank so I bought a 55 Gallon freshwater. I hate the thing now. 55 gallons of work. The wife is truly a mother to all the creatures in our house so she said I can't get rid of it until all the fish die of old age.

I used to be so into it but it's just a hassle to clean it now. Glass is algea covered and I dread cleaning it, so I put it off which make it worse.

Greg's tank is so clean. Fishtank Nazi ... makes me feel lazy.

We bought my housemate's girlfriend "Finding Nemo" on DVD for her birthday. We all sat and watched it last night, and I suddenly cannot believe quite how cruel Greg can be... those poor little fish!

On the other hand... no dentistry, and much less chance of having a father fish fighting the entire ocean to get one of them back... so I guess it's not all that bad.

Oh, and Catamaul... I had a pair of goldfish from a school fete, and they lived over 15 years... they're currently being heron-bait in my Nan's pond, but that was after 15 years of tank cleaning...

If I were to set up a regular tank in my air conditioned environment, what would I need?

I'm a beginner, so what fish is great to have and friendly enough to accept future fishies?

I've been thinking of getting a tank for a while now... thing is I live in a room (not an apartment or a house) a company hostel room.

In that room is a frig, TV, microwave, blender, a PSone, a PS2, an air purifier, an airconditioner, DVD player, mini HiFi and an 8 yr old computer.

Everything is plugged into the 3 wall sockets I have in my room, so I'm wondering if I plug in an air purifier for the tank, would my room explode.
"...and they called me crazy..."
