Michael Moore Hates America

Blurb wrote:Contrary to its title, Michael Moore Hates America isn’t a hatchet job on the filmmaker. It’s a journey across the nation where we meet celebrities, scholars and average folks alike, and we find out whether the American Dream is still alive! In the process, we’ll look at Michael Moore’s claims about the country, its people, and our way of life.
Now, what I'm seeing is some guy trying to ride coattails to fame. Sure, Michael Moore is a pompous windbag, but (And in Moore's case that's a big butt. (ROFL MICHAEL MOORE IS FAT!!!)) does making a documentary about him that, to me, looks a lot like the crap he does, make things any better? (Excluding, of course, Michael Wilson's bank account balance, naturally.)

Now, looking at the trailer(s, though they're basically copies of one another.), I can't help but think, man, it's looking like TDINTBL made this (Harhar, you know I love you. (Not gay.)). It looks like it's really jingoistic. But that's just my opinion on the matter.

I can't give much more of an opinion of the flick than that, at least until I see it and know for a fact that the guy is either right on the money, or a jackass, so I'll leave my post at that, with the obligatory invitation for fellow F'ers viewpoints on the matter.

*inserts obligatory right-hand comments on how wonderful, how truthful he is, or left-hand comments on how despicable or biased he is*Because that's how often it works around here.

Now, where is the movie available again? :P

Note I am judging the tone of the movie from it's trailers for the paragraphs below. They seem to possess two characteristics, which I find ironic.

It's ironic that the way Michael W paints himself is based on how individualism works in America. That is a big reason why I am studying here in the first place. That is not to say that other Western countries don't exhibit individualism, because the other big reason why I'm here is opportunity, but that's another subject.... Anyways, the way he seems to be twisting that aspect, as if saying "Yeah, America is great, you can be individualistic, so therefore I am justified in making a movie that chases down Michael Moore, and claim that he HATES America"... when probably Michael Moore may probably has the same type of reasoning when he's making his mockumentaries.

It's also another irony that Michael W paints himself as David versus Michael M the Goliath, when in essence Michael M has always painted himself as David versus (insert big corporation names here) Goliath!

Given the opportunity, I would see this film. However, I'm not going to actively look for it, and I never have for all these politically charged documentaries (including Michael Moore's work).

Ah. Turnabout is ALWAYS fair play. And of course, it takes a master magician to point out the disgustingly blatant editing that Moore does. That'll be an interesting contrast to his title-sake's two 'truth-finding missions'. Fun to see Moore on film when he's not around to edit it, to boot.

I'd probably forgive Moore if he offered actual solutions to the problems he rabble-rouses about so much. Ideally beyond 'Boot Bush' and 'No War', or a combination of somesuch anti-group cliche'.

/me sets out to make a movie that shows both this guy and Moore as pompous assholes.

Moore has some good points, but they are mixed in with a whole lot of nonsense. This movie is probably the same way. Some good points, but a whole lot of exaggerations and half-truths, just like Moore. It is rediculous. Bloody extremists.

You, sir, win the prize for being perceptive. (THink about it; if 93% of people are morons, and the Democrats and Republicans both account for about 35% of the population, both parties must be more than three-quarters full of idiots.)

Again, vote MPP. That's Mongol Pride Party, or Most Pompous Player; whichecer suits you. Either way, it's a vote for one man who has the balls to use America's Nuclear warheads to wipe out civilization.

I think that's the idea. Take Moore's shtick and turn it on its head.

Ahh, but are those his real intentions? Does he really understand what Moore thinks, or is he merely criticizing the fake elements of documentaries (as he demonstrates in the trailer)? Or is he just trying to do whatever it takes to stick it to Moore, and without realizing that he's acting like Moore himself? That's the problem Soth was mentioning about in the beginning of the thread...

It will be good to see someone sticking it to Moore. The bastard goes around chasing people and then throwing a fit if they dont want to talk to him, so it will be good to see the tables turned. I still think it is strange that Moore wont do interviews with people who disagree with his most recent film. If his case was really that rock solid, he should be happy to defend it. Instead, he cowers in his little hole, only comming out and speaking to those who think favorably of him.

Hey, the Mongols were some of the best rulers China had. And its not like their invasion, rule, and fall, was much different than many of the other Dynasties .. most of 'em DID come to power through violence. Blah blah blah, dynastic cycle, and all that.

Really, they were the best rulers? I thought there wasn't a lot of improvement over their "short" span of 100 years...

Michael Moore is by far the lesser of two evils.
