How did I just shoot myself in the foot? I am simply saying that a pillar of my platform would be to oppose laws like soft drug abuse, and prostitution. There are no victims in this crime. I submit that making them crimes is much the same as making suicide a crime.

I could probably make the 'Unified Transhumanist' party forerunner slot rather easy. Unless they've picked someone else as an avatar.

Though perhaps being an outside-contractor for multiple party propaganda might be much more profitable.

The key component to my domestic policy is the end of moral legislation; It is not the governments place to legislate morality.

As a clarification this is related to vice laws, not actual crimes. It would additionally not extend to protection of any act that put any but the offender in harms way.
Murder puts another person in harms way. However, smoking marijuana (responsibly, ie not driving), doesn't harm anyone but the user. I think that's the sort of platform randomperson2 is making. RP2, could you give some more examples of the government legislating morality that you'd overturn (If this is the right thread for it)?

This is exactly what I mean, granted murder is a vice for complete psychopaths but it is not under the legal definition of vice.

To be more specific, because I am obviously going to have to, among other things I would treat marijuana like alcohol as apposed to treating it like crack. Marijuana would be treated like cigarettes but with the exception that they would have to follow the same intoxication laws that alcohol would.

I would also legalize prostitution, put an age limit on it much like a strip clubs, regulate it to make it healthier, and tax it heavily.

That's like telling someone to call Handgun Control, Inc., to ask if guns are safe in the hands of the average citizen.

As realistic as the bickering has become, can you guys please get back on topic?
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Calus: That's like calling up any fundie group and ask them if masturbation or homosexual sex hurts anyone ... it doesn't mean they're gonna be right.

I will oppose you.

Severan Political Platform v 2.0

Simplify laws drastically. Basically, require that people not kill each other without justification, do not steal or otherwise gain wealth through dishonest methods, and do not commit treason. There will only be two punishments; deportation and execution. I will appoint military Officers who have displayed trustworthiness to each state. These people will brief me on what is needed to be done in monthly sessions, and will advise me on what taxes I can expect and put down any unrest. These governors will in turn appoint Jefes to each county and incorporated city in their state. The legislature will be a parallel body which will decide on internal matters and give budget proposals to the Executives to approve. The judicial branch will be a watchdog agency to keep the executives honest. Outside of waging war, enforcing aformentioned laws, and regulating international trade, all affairs are to be left up to private citizens.

Basically, a disinterested military autocracy.
