Well, it was the 'total lack of greed and lust for power' part that was more a bit much. One could argue that greed and lust for power can actually be positive goals if aimed towards the right ends.
And hey, who says unified humanity would be a moral end? We could end up with a bunch of unified, agreeable people who are just wastefull assholes to the rest of the non-human universe.
