ICS uses, by default, 192.168.0.1 for the computer that is the gateway. All other computers (in an ideal setup as per microsoft) should pull automatic IP addresses which will allow them to share the network connetion. You can set it up with static IP's as well, but it's just a little longer to configure.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you have the DSL modem/router uplinked to a switch?

I agree, hubs are more for just connecting PC's. Routers on the other hand do both.

In my experience, routers make this stuff real easy.

I messed with a hub for a while, paying $5 a month extra for an additional IP address from AT&T, then figured it would be cheaper in the long run just to get a router. Since then, it's worked just perfectly and easy too.

Pretty much just plug it in and go.

And they're pretty cheap too. The one I used to have was a linksys BEFSR41, selling for $50 at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... c&n=507846
and for $40 (after $10 mail in rebate) at newegg.com:

So yeah, here is another vote for router.

careful with linksys though. I use a linksys and have came across a fair amount of issues. I hate for one that you can't turn off the firewall, instead you have to open up ports. It is a fantastic router, if you know what you are doing. But i would say go either D-link or Linksys

I hate my D-link, it's DHCP just randomly died one day. Forcing me to find another DHCP server.

Also, it's ugly.

And I hate it.

Go netgear or linksys.

And Imp Show me a router where you DON'T have to route ports...

Imp, dude...Christ. That's how it works! That's NAT. And the term is "forwarding" a port, not openinging a port. The "router" is actually just a NAT device that, as a result, ends up also looking a lot like a firewall.
