Monitor dying, need some help

Post by billf » Tue Sep 21, 2004 7:57 am

I've had a Samsung SyncMaster 950b for a little over 2 years now. This 19" CRT has served me well during that time, but appears to be dying off rather quickly. The entire monitor is getting slowly darker and it has developed "fuzzy spots" where I can't read the text without squinting, yet other spots seem to be fine (still darker than they should be, just not as fuzzy).

I don't really have the money to spend on a monitor right now, I was going to use the little bit I have saved up to get some software certifications, but that isn't going to do me any good if I can't use my computer.

I don't really want another CRT, I'm looking for an LCD, it has to be at least 17" and under $300. Not an impossible task, but a difficult one.

The best I've found so far is This one over at New Egg

I doubt I'm going to find anything better, but the sale on this one is over at 4PM, and I'm not sure I can swing the money until friday... after the free shipping sale is over with.

I'd deffinately feel more comfortable waiting until Friday to order a new monitor, so basically you've got until I go to work (3:30PM EST) to find me a better deal :P

Thanks.

If you post a thread with that subject, ask for assistance fixing the monitor.

Append the subject so it includes the fact that you need a new one.

And I have not found a better deal. BUY IT NOW!!!!111oneone

Go for it, unless you want a massive CRT like I have.

meh, I decided I don't really have the money right now, so it'll have to wait until Friday and I"ll just have to pay the shipping. Ah well.

don't make me shoot you.

I've decided that I'm going to hold off. The free shipping is only going to save me about $10, and looking into it I can et a much better 19" CRT monitor for less money.

LCDs are cool, but in many areas just aren't as functional as a good old CRT.

Kurosen's sig has been removed for spamming. Had he just left it there, I wouldn't have minded. Drawing attention to it is spamming.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

CRT's are like half the cost of a LCD and LCD's are only like a tee bit better.

so i agree, screw a 17" LCD when you can get something like a 19" CRT for half the cost. And works just the same.

erm... try a low end 17" LCD is a little bit more than a 19" halfway decent CRT.
