Nevermind the officer sitting in the car in the first photo, I didn't notice him till he stepped out. I didn't quite have the cajones to snap interior photos.... he only stepped around the corner.

Very nice.

Along the same lines, back when I lived in Tampa bay I once saw a porsche 911 that had been converted to a police cruiser. Almost made me want to be a cop

That's a pretty shitty reason to want to be a cop.

Not so much a waste of money as you seem to think, Rors. More than the obvious advantage in speed, it should be noted that police car engines go through absolute hell, often running for weeks at a time, only being shut off long enough to refuel. It follows that one would want a very good engine to take such a beating.

Of course, often the police get crap cars that fall apart.

Yeah, I just wanted to use the phrase 'Your tax-dollars at work'
I'm sure Police forces the world over have a few high performance cars available, for all the reasons you just gave
Never seen anything as cool as this though

Need for Speed hot pursuit 2
Lamborghini cop car.

Although this looks more realistic. What did you render it in?

My college police department had a pimped out Trans Am that they used more as a promotional item than an actual cop car. Wonder if this is the same deal. They would sit it out in front of a dorm, and of course all the kids would wander over and start talking to the cop about the car. Tricky communists! They can't fool me! Er... I mean... I don't know what I mean. Just an idea for the purpose of it besides going fast after speeders.

Many times these cars (such as the Porsche someone else mentioned) are siezed and either sold off at auction or, if there's a need for it, internalized, converted, and used.

The local sherriff department is thinking about picking up some Dodge Magnums when they buy new cars next year. Back in about 95, I think it was, they bought the new Impalas, but since they can't do that anymore, they're thinking about Magnums.

I'm afraid.

That'd be awesome. What are you afraid of?

I rendered it in a Sony F717 5mp Digital Camera. :-)

Nope, this is one of I think 25 the county acquired. They've been a rare sighting on the streets untill recently and it's big news to catch one that isn't behind you with it's lights on. Now the trick will be how to get photos of the '05 Mustang cop cars...

We have several cars like you describe, an older stingray 'vette, oldschool Camaro's and some z28's... 90% of which were captured in drug busts and converted. This however, is a street duty, 100% active cop car.

I just get lucky. Too bad we're not in a location where COOL cars actually are. Everyone else gets the new hotness, we just get the left overs out here..
