Re: Gil Sellers
At the risk of being lynched im wondering if anyone has actualy bothered sending a message to an admin about this. I know for a fact that in Asherons Call 2 when you message an admin about something like this they get on it within a few hours, if not within the hour. I mean comon there has to some sort of ingame monitor that could look in and check the situation out. Also if the campers are dragging mobs over and then letting them attack you that in the asherons call terms also constitutes a violation as it is a direct attempt to ruin the experience for someone. Just take a screen shot or something of this happening and send it to them. Heck take like 5 of them and they should do something about it.
GMs have been called into these situations. Many times. But they never seem to do squat. Mostly because the players will usually attend their bots. They can do whatever they want, just so long as they look at the screen and respond to any /tells from a GM.
As for the training of mobs, that one is against the rules, and will result in bans. Temporary, and if enough times, permanent. But most botters will rely upon their bots to prevail, and they often do.

We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled; but how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere? Tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

One thing some people may or may not know is that real cash enconomy of some games is larger than the GNP of some nations!
Some factories in China pay their employees $70 a week and charge a $20 a week dorm fee. The average employee if smart only uses about $25 a week of that cash. After a years and they amass $5000 is enough to live VERY comfortably for the rest of their lives. So slave like mad for 3-5 years and live fairly well in the hills of china. To us...$5k is a drop in the bucket over 5 years, to them it is retirement.
This is why you see alot of 3rd world and developing second world nations have such a large influence on the farming of MMORPG's, the small cash they can earn by playing $12 a day could earn them enough to retire in a few years. Just mindlessing killing in EQ could yearn you $20 a day...and in alot of other countires that is alot. So if I lived in a 3rd world country and I could sit on my ass 12-16 hours a day or slaving in a factory for the same amount ....which would you do?
3rd world countries thank 1st world nations for donating to their livelyhood. The idea of instant gratification has caused the online economy to become realworld economy.

Sorry about the delay, Zen. It's Caitsith.

As far as the chyme goes, have a 5 war or a 41 monk
/targetnpc
/wait 1
/ja "Chi Blast" <t>
-or-
/ja "Provoke" <t>
Just have to be careful around Drg/Smn/Bst because /targetnpc will target their pets. Then its just time to spam the macro. It take a few tries of accidentally pulling bats and bombs but I can usually beat the rest of the people around in the southern spawn point (not the northern, spawn point is too big).
True I am on Bahamut, not Shiva, and we don't have many problems with gil sellers yet, but there is still JP bot competition. As someone suggested a massive conspiracy to shut down gil sellers might work so... lets get on that.
Also good call on the S-E stings Greg, that would work very well. When they ban your account they also ban your credit card number.

I'll put something here eventually...

I find it kind of funny the enormous topic that this comic started - Good work, Mr. Dean. ^^ My personal opinion is: if you see these guys.... and hate them.... you can always keep an eye out in Ballista.

Re: Gil Sellers
I'm sorry to say this but as long as people are willing to buy this stuff it will happen on every major MMORPG that comes out.
On an interesting note, according to the recently resolved Blizzard vs. BnetD court case it was ruled that a game's EULA and Terms of Use are legally binding agreements, meaning that gil selling/buying in addition to botting are violations of contract law.
