couldn't figure where to say congrats to Liz!

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Greg, are there any other pics from that event? sounds like it was a blast.

Man, if my car hadn't have gotten smooshed, I would've sooo been there to see Liz win that. Congrats! And now your computer works better than Greg's! At least at what counts.

Heh, I just hope the happy couple's prepared for the "RUN! FURRIES!" reactions :D

Where's the detailed list of hand-picked specs, anyway?

Wow, thats great! i'm sure Liz is happy!

And congrats on your 5700 Ultra. I got one of those this summer, and I have to say its a nice card. Bleeding-Edgers might look down on it now that the 6000 series is out, but this is a solid card and should last you a bit.

I was actually a little surprised, really... upgrading from the GeForce 4 Ti4200 to the 5700 FX Ultra didn't make a huge difference. I ran the benchmark and actually scored about the same, if not slightly lower (fluctuations in the score are no big deal, though). Granted, I was able to turn FSAA on without any hit to the score, but I'm thinking at this point, my processor is probably the limiter. An Athlon XP 1800+ doesn't really cut it these days, I'm guessing. :D

So, as far as I can tell, here's what I'm guessing (and a few things I know as a fact) about Liz' new compy:

Case is a custom coolermaster. Quite nice. Has USB, Firewire, and Sound access ports on top, with a little flip-top access door. Kinda neat.

MoBo i'm unsure of, but check this out: It's got four USB ports, two firewire ports, digital audio out, and RCA Video out... ON THE BOARD. That's insane.

The CPU is a Pentium 4 Extreme, I'm guessing... that was the chip they were giving out to some of the other winners. Not sure of the clock speeds, but I'm willing to bet that it's the fastest currently available.

1 Gig RAM. We know that for sure. :)

140-Gig HD

Audigy-2 series soundcard (Don't know the exact model number)

GeForce 6800-series video card (Again, don't know the exact model number... forgot to check that. Betting it's a 256-meg card.)

And it came with a DVD-Writer, to boot. So yeah.... it's one hell of a machine.

Looks like my board can support up to a 3200+. $180.... not too bad. I'll have to save. :D

So the moral of the story is:

Even though you may feel stupid, cosplay pays off in the long run :p

An Athlon XP 1800+ doesn't really cut it these days, I'm guessing.
I'm guessing that too...That's the processor I have in my desktop box, and it ain't no spring chicken.

Fuck yes cosplay pays off. And the OTHER moral of the story, in my opinion, is that if you're gonna do a costume, pay a lot of attention to detail. It's all those little details that make a difference to the people who judge these sorts of things. :D
