*CLUNK*

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

I have to agree.
Very funny. And it's funny because it was kinda of throw in there on the side where no one would notice. Kind of how the Airplane movies have funny things happen in the background. Classic.
My sig would have contained the secret of life, but I'd already clicked submit.

Just a question. If you had Pepsi in space, would the vacuum suck the fizz out of it? Or would it fizz and freeze at the same time, giving you a little ball of brown, icy bubbles?

Considering mars has an atmosphere of a density near that of earth's (albeit comprised of Carbon Dioxide), there would be little difference, I would assume.

I know, but the image I had in my head was a spacewalk with an open can of Pepsi. 'Cause the *clunk* joke seems funnier if you have the dramatic view of the earth in the background, maybe the theme from 2001: A Space Odessy in the background, then *clunk*

But that would be a waste of a comic, cause all it would be is the *clunk* joke.

not inly is the clunk funny, but the fact that greg is trying to drink the pepsi through a solid sheet of glass, or what ever the visor of the helmet is made out of

"And Shepherds we shall be, for thee, my Lord, for thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand. Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.

Actually, the density of Mars' atmosphere is about a hundredth that of Earth.

The atmosphere has a pressure at the surface that is only 1/200 that of Earth.

from: http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect ... phere.html

At that pressure:

A: The can would explode as soon as you took it out of the space ship.
B: The pepsi would evaporate away to pure vapor as soon as it was exposed.

The only way to circumvent this would be to take it out at night, where the temperature might, MIGHT flash freeze it in the can.

But all that is the same reason why ships and suits are only 5 PSI, instead of 21 Earth Atmospheric. The suits would either explode or blow up like a ballon and be impossible to move in.
