Actually I should add something to that list
Pasta Roni

I ate a disgusting amount of those. With low-fat recipe of course

And yes, the whole lack of cooking is solely due to time constraints. I love cooking. But this post asked what was necessary in college.

I lived on ramen soup for about a month and a half at one point. I also distinctly remember a rather rough two weeks where I lived on a box Cap'n Crunch...I definitly don't reccomend doing that.

Other than thoes extreme occations, lots of pizza, hot pockets, and spaghetti.

Oddly enough, as little as I eat (even being out of college now), I still dont seem to lose weight. Someties, but not always, I have a bowl of cereal in the morning, crackers or ramen soup for lunch, and occationally i'll get subway or some pizza for lunch. On thoes days I skip dinner, and on days when I only have crackers for lunch I usually make something small and quick for dinner.

anything with noodles and the like.
Lo mein. Simple recipe,
i prefer char quei tel (sp?) but anything of noodles, preferably in soup is great, whether it be egg or rice noodles.
I lived on ramen soup for about a month and a half at one point
damn skippy, thats flavour country, you can buy bulk for like 20c a pack
Making homemade spaghetti sauce, a large batch, and then freezing it in serving-sized portions for convenient future reheating is very useful, and inexpensive if you make it entirely from basic ingredients
omg! someone else does that too?
RAW EGGS ARE JUST GROSS!
take that back

and whats all this i hear about easy mac...that stuff is horrible

oh well, a college survival pack should consist of eggs(pasturized), noodles of all kinds and a small amound of cooking and planning skills.

Actually a diet consisting of only junk food, with normal day-2-day activity can actually cause falls in body weight - it's actually because you don't eat as fully as you should. However you get rises in cholestrol and blood sugar...

Ahem... yeah...

We had a local pizza place that had great deals. Monday-Tuesday you could get a large for $3.99, Wednesday an x-large for $5.99, and Thursday a 20" for $7.99. Every so often I'd stock up on a Monday or Tuesday with a couple of the 14"ers and span those out across the week.

Taco Bell was also high on the list due to the $.99 menu. Anything with a $.99 cent menu was visited often.

Besides that... now that I'm graduated and living alone... and I lack the motivation to cook some times. You can get those frozen meals for like a buck or two each (one of the varieties is always on sale it seems), and they add a bit of flavor and variety.

Also, find a girlfriend who enjoys cooking. My last year at school was probably the best I'd eaten, because she enjoyed making me meals. It's difficult to pull off, and often requires that you do the dishes, or cook meals for her in exchange, but well worth it.

Nowadays i bake most of my own bread(saves me a lot of money), cook some noodles, maybe sometimes fish sticks and fries. I heat up frozen pizzas only when we need a cardboard box for our recycklable cardboard stuff like milk cartons and such. I eat at the uni daily which is about 2 Eur for the basic stuff.

For the record, wasn't there a cooking thread started by MC a while back? I remember it started before I took my short vacation from the forum, but I can't remember what the name of it was....

There was a cooking thread. I too, can't remember it's name.
This is a different topic anyway.

My college meals consisted almost entirely of combinations of
A) Cheese
B) Bread (usually in a toasted form)
Often brown sauce puts in an appearance too. That or pickle (of the Branston's variety).

Occasionally I'd get motivation and cook some sausages and chips. Maybe even mash some potato...

Failing all the above, I'd pop to the nearest shop and grab assorted unhealthy snacks.

Not really. Hell, I wish had had some recipices so I could use the kitchen I have upstaris. It's more of a 'helping us eat better tool', rather than letting us survive on Ramen, pizza, and Cheese and bread.

thus far, I've lived off of dorm cafe food, Chef Boyardee, chips, cereal, ice cream sandwiches, Subway, Chick-Fil-A, and Taco Bell. Worked just fine for me so far. But then again, I think the cafe food is pretty good.

This has been a real help...going _back_ to uni (fine...college) next year. OT a little bit, what sort of jobs did ppl have when they were there? I am currently working nights and weekends at an adult "Superstore" (I sell porno movies _and_ vibrators, so my customers are about a fifty-fifty mix m/f) and doing backyard mechanic work (I completed my appreticeship a year and a half ago).
