Honestly, I wasn't terribly impressed with Deus Ex 2. It took away a lot of the things that made the original so cool...
I found once you get past the initial shock of it not meeting the sheer excellence that was the original. There's plenty of good game still left. But yes, a slight disappointment.

Oh, I thought it was enjoyable and everything. It just couldn't hold a candle to the original, one of the best games of all time.

Back to topic, now that I've finished HL2, I have some thoughts. It didn't have as much of an epic feel to it as the first. Enemies are pretty standard, which could have been done better. Your arsenal is pretty small, only ten weapons, very few of which have a secondary fire. Friendly AI is dumb. Those are the only complaints I really have. Oh, and the ending. However, in my opinion, it's still worth every penny. ESPECIALLY when the mod community gets into the full swing.

Well I just got it, I have yet to play it. I wanted to see how the original half-life was redone. But sadly after waiting 2 hours for the download when I clicked it went to the familiar valve video, then went to a loading screen.

And...it stayed there...I left and came back 10 minutes later and it was still there

What's up with that? Does loading the menu really take that long? I haven't even started HL2 (precacheing it right now and then I'll boot it up) Did anyone else have this problem?

Edit: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG *SPLOOGE*

/me runs back to play.

Oh wait, my computer is right here!

/me launches HL2

Played HL2 for a couple of hours and then got bored and stopped. I've been reading the hype for the game and it just made me expect too much. Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, maybe even very good, but it does nothing that other games do. It does them better, most times. However, there are horrible physics problems in it.
Pick up a crate filled with stuff and, unless you're the steadiest hand in the world, they'll fly everywhere. What? A lot of games do that. I'm not sure why.

Graphics, meh, they're nice, but who cares? The eye movement is pretty good, but no computer can handle that much stuff going on the screen at once. That's why you'll notice that the graphical detail will drop when you enter certain places. You kinda know you're in for a fight then.

Gravity gun. Great concept. Kept me amused for a while, but there are similar weapons around. It's like a mix of the grappling hook and air fist from killer quake. I still prefer the stake gun from Painkiller.

All in all it's just a (good) amalgam of other games, all rolled up in the Havok Engine (which, for some reason, they've messed up in places. Stand on a bunch of wood and everything goes everywhere. Does Gordon have no balance?).

I'd give it about 82. It's a good game, maybe even a great game, but it's not life changing for me. I'm writing my own physics engine at the moment, and we'll see if I can get rid of "everything going everywhere when you put it in a crate and pick it up" syndrome.

Hmm, I find most FPS's are just better versions of older FPS's.

I never noticed anything wrong with the physics. I mean, I've picked up a crate and kept stuff on top of it. I don't understand by what you mean "they go everywhere."

The only time I've seen stuff go everywhere is when I picked up a table, and I guess that was cause I was oddly positioned and everything slid off the table. Still looks realistic to me. I think things go everywhere because you're picking it up with such force.

Also, the graphics thing, I have a $700 system, and it runs fine for me. I don't see any graphics quality drop or anything, don't know what you're talking about there...

I've had this game since the day it hit stores. I'm one of the random crash victims. It was good up untill I hit a part of the game, about an hour in, where the path you have to take to move on always causes a crash. Bassically it's a 55 dollar waste of 5 gigs, until Valve finally releases a patch.

Played through it 4 times already and haven't had any problems.

I noticed something, when you pick something up it drops everything on it.

There's one room with 3 or 4 tables. On the tables are dead bodies. If you pick up the table with the anti-grav gun it turns the table so the bodies fall off, and then straightens the table out.

I don't think it's a problem with the physics engine, more like they don't want you carrying a bunch of things at once.

I get the occasional memory referencing error, but a quick reboot of the pc and loading a quicksave solves it. :)

My problem is where the came causes my computer to reboot. I made it so instead of automatically rebooting I get the blue screen of death. I'm getting a nv4_disp.dll. Bassically it's my Nvidia graphics card. It's causing problems in games that have never had problems now. I tried to play Morrowind the other day, and I got the same error. And For some reason I can't register for tech support from Nvidia, because I didn't buy my card recently from their website. Bassically I'm fucked.
