I'm not a big fan of the turkey dinner and such, but the turkey sandwiches later really hit the spot.

I would say Thanksgiving is more like a preparation for the family before Christmas, just so everyone knows who to avoid during Christmas. Is Thanksgiving bigger than Christmas in the US?
Seriously though, from what I've seen, Thanksgiving is more like a big family get together, almost like a family reunion, with people from all branches of the family attending. Christmas seems to be more for just a small piece of the family. And if you want to measure bigness in pure dollars, nothing beats Christmas, IIRC.
