While I like a challenge, I prefer the challenge to be in the actual GAMEPLAY, not in trying to figure out ridiculously complicated control setups. That said, THE BEST VIDEO GAME EVER MADE is...

Oregon Trail

Easy enough for a seven-year old to know the controls, but enough of a mental challenge for just about any adult.

I'm partial to strategy-type games, whether Supervisor games like Starcraft or anything by Sid Meier (I played Civilization RELIGIOUSLY for the better part of a decade), RPGs, or puzzle games.

And I'll stick to 2-D games... whether sidescrollers like old-time Mario and Sonic or overheads like classic Zelda. Again, the whole "complicated controller" thing.

Fighting games are right out.

Zelda owns, no question about it.
You may ask, "What does the LC stand for?" For that, you must turn to Rorschach, who has decided it stands for
Loose-assed cockjockey
I like a game to have a good storyline. Its amazing how many problems a game can have that I will forgive for an engrossing storyline (example, just about the entire Legacy of Kain series, good games, but serious gameplay issues in places).

I also have to say, I don't think I've ever come across a game where the controls have been a challenge to me (Except flight simulators, but we all have an exception ;))

Well, you have to know that SevTiZ has a Dex score of like 4. He seriously lacks in the hand/eye coordination required for most games beyond button mashing and hoping everything works out in your favor. I, however, have a Dex score around say 16 allowing me to smoke him in most video games. I guess that's why he sticks to single player RPGs like Oregon Trail. I like more complex games. My personal favorite being the Zelda games.
