River City Ransom. You won't be a complete human being until such time being as you've played and beaten it.

Up-to-the-minute write-in tally:

Tetris/Tetris clones: 3 votes (good for third place overall)
Prince of Persia (for clarification Ed, is this Sands of Time?): 1 vote
Ocarina of Time: Doesn't matter, "ZELDA SERIES" is an option. (If you ask me, I DID love OoT, but the first two Zelda games beat it. And if you haven't played Zelda 2, I suggest you do so as soon as possible. And if you don't still have your NES, what good are you?)
Fallout: 1 vote

Lack of Planescape : Torment.
But, it depends.
Some of those are just great games (Doom, Half Life, OOC) others were good games at the time (Diablo, THPS) and some aren't even all that great (FF series)

But still, as much as I love RPG/Adventure/Insert Genre Here games, the noble FPS is closest to my heart, and HL probably sits in there (although HL2 is a better game)

Secret of Mana. That's it. Nothing comes close. That game, to paraphrase the immortal Nigel Tufnel, "goes to eleven."
For some reason, all of the greatest characters in RPGs, with a few exceptions, are female.

I'm assuming the person that said Prince of Persia DOES mean Sands of Time because other than it and WW, every other PoP game reeks worse than a septic tank.

Now honestly, I'm going to bring up the two games that never get it's props because people forget about them so easily.

The Oregon Trail. THE ORIGINAL Oregon trail, on the fucking 386's and shit. That game ruled all ass back when I was in 2nd grade and I'd gladly play it today if I had a computer that old and a copy of my own. I could play it all day.

The Incredible Machine. This was actually an assignment in my school, once. To beat this game. Hot damn was that the best assignment of all time. It's damn fun and then they tell us we're being graded to play a fun game. A++ bitches. So damned simple in theory yet, so amazingly addictive.

Dude?

...Seriously?

I don't like the way people offer write in votes by asking why games were left out, because it seems that every game someone has disputed has ended up with a vote or two. Also, most write-ins seem to include two to five games. I don't split votes, okay people? I will take your vote and give it to Metroid, the Ralph Nader of this poll, and you can't do a damn thing about it because you voted WRONG. (Seriously, voting's not really HARD. How do so many people have trouble with it? All the Michael Moores in the world can't solve that mystery.)

And I don't like the fact that neither Madden nor Metroid have been questioned, and neither of them have gotten a vote, either. This poll seems a lot more poorly-taken than poorly-given.

And I am too messed up right now to tally the write-ins.

...ALL OF THAT SAID here's the punchline: despite never seeing it before in any of the things replied, giving it all of half a write-in vote, I award the "write-in championship" to The Oregon Trail. Simply because, it was the ONE GAME that's really made me slap my forehead and ponder how I overlooked it. If only WickedGT knew how to vote.

So I guess the award's going to be accepted by Samus.

The Cid, I seriously love your avatar and have admired it secretly since you started using it.

Dude?

...Seriously?

People can discuss amongst themselves.

Also I'd like to remind everyone of RTS games like Blizzards starcraft/warcraft series. Puzzle games like Myst( though I hate this game with the fire of a thousand suns), Talisman, and umm...Riven...ok, so there aren't many good puzzle games. And finally for Fans of classics like Oregon Trail and Tetris. Very old computers, 486's and less, came built in with two games hard coded, or they were hard coded on three of my first computers. The were, Nibbles and what has changed over the years into gunbound, BananaToss.

Also for Cid's sake, I officially change my vote, from mario brothers series to"Secret of Evermore" a TRS RPG for the SNES that had a gradual leveling system.

You know what the greatest thing about voting is? If I'm too lazy to, I don't have to. I just like to bitch. Ha ha ha, you can't do anything about it. Cry.
